was established in 1945 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to help promote youth sports activities for the community and the school district. The club is a service organization only. It is made up of a board of directors, who meet monthly to conduct business and review requests for help from various sports groups, teams, etc. The directors are volunteers. There is no compensations of any
kind. The club holds no social functions: such as picnics, Christmas parties, or other official social gatherings. The members consider their time and service a "labor of love." The club is a registered non-profit organization. We have Washington County property tax exempt status and a Pennsylvania sales tax exempt number. We have an annual budget of approximately five to six thousand dollars. Some of the organizations we support are varsity teams of Charleroi Area High School, Charleroi Youth Football Association, Charleroi-Fallowfield-Dunlevy Youth Soccer Association, Budd Grebb Basketball League of California, and the Scott Smith Memorial Golf Tournament. The club also awards two $1000 scholarships each year. One each for both a female and a male scholar-athlete. Applications are judged by a committee and voted on without the identities of the applicants being known to the committee. The club is always exploring ways to enable us to expand our services. We would like to expand our scholarships program by way of adding to or increasing our awards. Also, as schools' athletic budgets have been seeing increasing cuts, necessary equipment has become difficult to include. When we contribute to one of these purchases it is with the mandate that the donation is for athletic equipment only. If any persons or organizations in or around Charleroi wish to contribute by way of monetary contribution please contact us! Any questions can be directed here at our page, over the phone, or at [email protected]
