American Legion Post 240 The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization

American Legion Post 240 Chapman is part of the National Service organization which provides political support for Veterans benefits and the nationwide Veteran's Hospitals and is a strong supporter of community in Chapman and the surrounding areas. Post 240 is active in providing opportunities for Boys and Girls State, offers scholarships for post-high school education, works with local schools in support of the military child. The Post is also a valuable assistance for those in need of medical assistive devices with a storage locker of equipment and outside contacts to getting specific items. Chapman Post 240 supports the VA Center in Topeka and visits the hospital every year as well as put on fundraisers and drives for special projects for the hospital and for local Legion benevolences. The Veterans Hall is available for rental for community events as well as the site for many fundraisers and projects of the Legion. The upper floor of the building is also available for rental for private dances or meals with Legion connections. The Legion houses a cantina which is open daily to members and their guests.
