Melkam Enkutatash, Happy New Year! It's 2019! Ethiopia's New Year celebration is on September 11. Many countries celebrate the marking of a year's time on dates other than January 1st. Help us wish all of our Ethiopian partners and families a Happy New Year! In addition, (W)HOLE was planning a special dinner this evening. It has been postponed. Thanks for your understanding!

Today reminded us why accessibility matters and why we will never stop advocating for children and adults with disabilities.

We spent the day touring several medical centers that are doing incredible work to support children with disabilities. We saw therapy rooms, mobility equipment, and dedicated staff who are fighting every day to make sure these kids have the tools, care, and opportunities they deserve. Every center taught us something new, and every child reminded us that accessibility isn’t optional. It’s dignity. It’s hope. It’s justice.

And then came one of the sweetest parts of the day: meeting with our sponsor families.
We sat together, shared stories, laughed, played, and simply enjoyed being present with one another. These relationships are the heart of our mission. They’re the reason we keep showing up, keep learning, and keep pushing for better access to care and support.

It was a beautiful day of connection, advocacy, and joy. A reminder that when we walk alongside families, listen to their needs, and fight for accessibility, real change happens.

We are celebrating something beautiful!

Because of your generosity, we were able to purchase three brand‑new hospital beds for the clinic. Three places where patients will finally have comfort, support, and dignity as they heal.

These beds aren’t just equipment. They’re reminders that when people come together in love, real change happens. Every donation, every share, every prayer made this possible. You stepped in, and lives will be better because of you.

Thank you for believing in this work. Thank you for seeing the value in every person who walks through those clinic doors. Thank you for helping us bring hope in such a tangible way.

Three new beds. Three new chances for healing. And a community that keeps showing up.

The last two days have been full of beauty, learning, and connection. We explored Ethiopia’s history at the National Museum and shared meals that reminded us how rich this culture is.

The next day brought us back to the mission. We spent time at the Fares WholeLife Initiative, meeting founders, visiting the clinic and lab, and sharing sweet moments with the kids and families they serve. We were welcomed with traditional coffee ceremonies, laughter, games, and stories that made the work feel even more personal.

Grateful for every step, every smile, and every reminder of why we’re here.
