In FY 2026, the Child Care WAGE$® Program awarded education- and commitment-based salary supplements to early childhood professionals in 5 different states, supporting educators while providing children with more stable relationships with better-educated teachers!

WAGE$ invested more than $25 million in 9,362 early educators at 3,762 early education programs across the county, with a turnover rate of just 14%. Because every early educator deserves to feel valued and appreciated, and every child deserves a strong start in life! đź’š

Our new STEP$ (Supporting Teachers' Earnings & Progress) salary supplements are designed to better compensate and retain infant-toddler teachers and family child care providers, helping to recognize the invaluable work you do every day.

Do you:
• Work 40 hours per week with infants, 1-year-olds or 2-year-olds?
• Earn at or below $16 per hour?
• Have a level of education on the STEP$ salary supplement scale (beginning with the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential or CDA)?
