Mathkind

Mathkind We build math education programs through collaborative partnerships that drive social justice.

Mathkind, formerly Teachers2Teachers Global, believes mathematics education creates a more equitable world. Founded in 2014, we work in schools that are committed to providing a high-quality education but face systemic barriers. Our professional development programs empower local teachers with evidence-based best practices. Teachers learn new strategies at our workshops and are supported by local

Mathkind team members to apply them in their classrooms. Graduates of Mathkind programs develop into leaders who coach their colleagues. This learn-apply-lead approach articulates a clear, measurable path to generating student outcomes in critical thinking and problem solving. The power of Mathkind’s model comes from an expert network of world-renowned mathematics educators. We’re a young nonprofit with the expertise of an established research institution. By building collaborative partnerships between expert coaches and local teachers, classrooms are transformed and student learning deepens.

🧸 End-of-year classroom cleanup can spark some critical thinking. Take this stuffed guest, for example. Is it behind the desk, beside the desk, under the desk, or all of the above?

Even the quietest school friend can create a math moment!

🚗 Memorial Day weekend in the US often means long drives and a classic trade-off: leave early and beat the traffic, or sleep a little later and take your chances.

How would you decide which choice is worth it? That’s a real-world math question worth taking for a spin!

⭐ 5, 10, 15, 20…what comes next? In this activity, students explore patterns by adding 5. It opens the door to noticing structure and making predictions. With each step, they can see how numbers connect to each other.

And when they add "las estrellas" (“stars”), they’re showing they’ve made the leap to the real world.

⛴️ A new Global Math Story is on the way. Can you guess where it takes place? Here’s a hint. In this location, ferries are crucial to everyday travel, often used more than cars to get from place to place.

Share your guess in the comments. We’ll reveal it soon!

Math is often described as a language, which means it grows through use over time. When students have meaningful chances to explore ideas and make sense of them, learning becomes more lasting.

What helped math start to click for you?

🎓 It’s graduation season in the US. As students walk across the stage one by one, their names are called, usually in alphabetical order. But what if you were invited to rethink the tradition? Would you arrange students in a new way?

Maybe there’s more than one way to line things up!
