Hey everyone here is some important information about upcoming events!

We have volunteered many times here in the past, and although we are not volunteering this year, you can still volunteer for the Haunted Forest. It is an outdoor theme forest, where you are able to volunteer to dress up and scare people. You can check the website for more details (http://www.raleighhauntedhouse.com/). The staff is very good about communicating with interested volunteers.

Civitan has agreed to help TABLE sort food they provide to children in the surrounding areas. “TABLE’s mission is to provide healthy, emergency food every week to hungry children living in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, NC.” They provide food for kids 3-14 years old. They meet the nutritional needs of children when schools aren’t enough. Civitan has reserved 5 spots to assist in bagging food (we would form an assembly line and fill bags with healthy non-perishables for kids) on October 26 from 6-8pm. TABLE is located very close by in Carrboro: 205 West Weaver Street, Carrboro, NC 27510. It is very important that we fill these 5 volunteering slots.

Families Moving Forward is an organization that offers temporary homes to families experiencing homelessness. Their biggest need is for evening homework helpers - they call them Study Buddies - to assist the children living here in shelter with their school work. Their Study Buddies program runs Monday - Thursday from 6:30-7:30 PM, and they really need more volunteers to make sure each child gets the help and attention that's vital to their educational success. They would like volunteers to commit to volunteering one a week, or once every two weeks for 1 hour for the duration of the semester. They have availability Monday- Thursday, so if you are able to volunteer one of these days for the rest of the semester, I know they would really appreciate it. They are located in 300 North Queens Street, Durham, NC 27701, which is about 30 minutes away from campus.

Our next meeting is November 17; we look forward to seeing everyone there.

Just a reminder that our next general body meeting will be this Thursday October 13th in Dey 301 at 8:15.

Remember to bring $15 to this meeting if you have not already paid club dues. We need to send this off to Alabama soon, so it would be much appreciated if everyone remembered :-)

We would also like everyone to bring 2-4 nonperishables as we are collecting donations for TABLE

Acceptable items:

Entrees: ravioli or spaghetti with meatballs, tomato sauce, low-sodium chicken, vegetable, or tomato soup, canned tuna or chicken, boxes of mac & cheese, spaghetti noodles

Sides: corn, green beans, carrots, or other canned veggies, canned black or baked beans, boxes of whole grain rice

Snacks: pretzels, raisins, goldfish, or other kid-friendly snacks, canned or non-perishable fruit/applesauce cups, peanut butter (plastic 14oz jar), healthy breakfast/granola bars, instant oatmeal packets

Beverages: 100% juice, multi-pack, low-sugar juice boxes, non-rerfigerated milk boxes

The kids will appreciate the food!
