Disability Advocates Committee We're a Campus Y organization striving to bring awareness and accessibility to the UNC community.

We are a community of self advocates and allies working together to fight back against ableism and stay informed. Advocates for Carolina is a Campus Y organization that raises disability awareness and education. We advocate for students impacted by disability on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.

Last week, we partnered with Lux’s Purpose to relax and watch Bolt! Thank you for everyone who showed up to learn more about service dogs and how they can assist those in the disabled community.

Welcome back Tar Heels! The first meeting in 2026 of the Disability Advocates Committee is tomorrow, Wednesday January 21st at 5 p.m. This will take place in the Anne Queen Lounge at the Campus Y, where we will be discussing new task force projects and goals for advocacy this semester. Last Monday, before Thanksgiving break, DAC and hosted an Accesibility Townhall Event with panelists Dr. Tim Miles and Emily Powell from Chapel Hill Transit.

We are very thankful for our panelists and attendees for coming out to discuss housing and transportation accessibility in Chapel Hill along with Build Up's Path Forward Study preliminray findings.

This past Monday, DAC had a wonderful GBM!! Thank you to for joining our meeting to discuss physical accessibility barriers across campus from sidewalk/brick leveling and presences/absences of stairs and ramps to elevator malfunctions and accessible seating in lecture halls/classrooms.

Stay tuned for updates on DAC's upcoming Townhall Event with Build Up on 11/24 to advocate for improvement of physical accessibility across campus.
