This Giving Tuesday, we ask you to stand with a young mother who is fighting for her life - physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

JUANA is a 31 year old mother of two. She suffers from severe complications from diabetes, including failing kidneys. Years of constant sickness, physical pain, hospital visits, and exhaustion have taken a devastating toll on her body, her emotions, and her spirit. Worn down by suffering, Juana has battled deep depression and has attempted to take her own life twice.

Today, Juana remains in a very fragile place and her children are also deeply affected by their mother’s illness and emotional pain. We are feeding them, clothing them, and comforting them, doing everything we can to bring stability and care into a situation filled with fear and uncertainty.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help fight for the life of a child who has already lived through a miracle and now needs another one.

Jeremías was born with his heart outside his chest wall, a condition so rare that survival is almost unheard of. With the leadership of Los Rayos de Esperanza, and the help of our ministry partners Bless Back Worldwide and Have a Heart foundation, he received the life-saving surgery that gave him a chance at life. He grew in to an active young boy who loves to play soccer. Just look at him now at ten-years-old.

Sadly, Jeremias is experiencing complications and it appears his heart is failing. His family needs assistance with medical care, transportation to the big city for all of his appointments and all the medications he needs. We’re believing God for another miracle. Will you be a part of it?

Urgent Need: Help for Juana and Her Family

Juana is only 32 years old, yet she has endured tremendous suffering due to diabetes. She now weighs just 70 pounds and has already lost several toes. Thanks to the generosity of a dear friend of Los Rayos, she receives insulin—but her condition remains critical.

Recently, Juana fell and appears to have broken her leg. She has been lying in bed for over a week, unable to move and in severe pain. Her 13-year-old son, Giancarlo, is caring for her and his younger siblings entirely on his own. He cooks, feeds his mother, gives her medication, and finds occasional work cutting weeds with a machete to earn a little money for food. Because of this, he can no longer attend school. There is no father in the home.
This week, our health care team visited Juana and confirmed that she is unable to move at all not even to roll in bed. Dr. G believes the leg is broken, but an X-ray is urgently needed to confirm and guide treatment. We would like to help Juana by providing transportation to the hospital, paying for the X-ray and related expenses, and helping provide food and basic care for the family.
We also hope to visit her home once or twice a week to assist with cooking, laundry, and caregiving. Members of our clinic team and community health promoters have already expressed their willingness to volunteer.

Some of you who have been on a trip in the past couple of years have met our office administrator Salma. Today, she made this request that she asked me to share with you: "We are asking all our brothers and sisters in the faith to pray for our baby Ayla Sofia. She was born prematurely at 27 weeks and has been in the intensive care unit for 16 days. Today she had a crisis, and what the doctors are saying is not encouraging, but we are holding firmly to God’s promises of healing, knowing that nothing is impossible for Him. Please join us in our cry of intercession for our little one. Thank you."

UPDATE: Friday morning - Precious little Ayla Sophia is in her Father's arms now. Thank you for all who prayed for her. Please keep her parents Salma and Christhian in your prayers as they mourn the loss of their first born child.

We graduated four more women into our Community Health Promoters program, which now brings us to 15! We have 24 communities in Diriomo and our goal is to have a trained and committed health promoter in each community.
