The Annual University/Community MLK Memorial Banquet The 34th Annual University/Community MLK Memorial Banquet will be held January 13, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at The William and Ida Friday Center. Tickets $30

The purpose of the MLK University/Community Planning Corporation is to organize and manage educationally relevant programs that honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The board consists of approximately 12 members within the Chapel Hill and Carrboro areas. The committee seeks to honor the legacy of Dr. King through the following events: The Chancellor’s Annual Martin Luther King J

r. Memorial Banquet and The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award. The MLK Scholarship Award

Named in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a civil rights pioneer, this award has been given annually since 1993 to recognize local Orange County students’ commitment to service and community leadership. Scholars are chosen based on academic GPA, financial need, and contributions to the Chapel Hill-Orange County communities. The scholarship is open to all high school seniors who are currently enrolled in the Chapel Hill-Orange County School System. The Scholarship award ranges from $1000- $1500. Listening to their leadership accomplishments, volunteer activities, academic success and aspirations for the future simply makes you proud to meet these outstanding students.
