GWC WEEKLY CLASSES ARE BACK!!! This semester kicked off stronger than ever with a little over 80 students enrolled! We’re excited to see them dive into coding and grow their skills throughout the semester. We also have a new Matplotlib coding section this semester, and we can’t wait to hear how students like it!

Girls Who Code (GWC) at UNC is part of a national organization uplifting gender minorities in STEM by teaching middle and high schoolers programming basics. UNC GWC offers free programming classes for 9 weeks to middle and high school female-identifying and nonbinary students each semester! This semester UNC computer science students will teach middle school students Data visualization with Python and Turtles! During the 9 weeks, students will also get the opportunity to connect with computer science students at UNC and learn more about the college admissions process!

📍Location: On campus at UNC Chapel Hill
📆 Duration: Once a week (choose a day between Monday - Thursday)
⏰Time: 5:00pm - 6:30pm

Our applications for the Spring 2025 semester are open! If you or someone you know is interested in coding and wants more information about attending UNC, click the link (https://bit.ly/gwc2025) or scan the QR code to apply.

Applications must be submitted by January 17th, 2025 to secure a spot!

Last week, our talented students had the chance to shine as they presented the incredible projects they’ve been working on this semester. From coding games like Hangman and trivia to creating stunning artwork featuring pets, their creativity and skills were truly inspiring. This group of students is exceptionally bright, and there’s no doubt they’ll continue to thrive and achieve great things in the future.
