Beginning Floor Loom Weaving 101 with Marcia Toms
Our beginning weaving classes fill up fast so mark your calendar for June 2nd!

Class dates: 3 days! 9:00 am -4:00 pm each day.
Saturday-Sunday, August 1st & 2nd, 2026
Saturday, August 8th, 2026
Registration opens at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 2, 2026

This class is perfect for the student with little or no prior weaving experience. We will weave a set of small cotton mats that can be used as mug mats or saved as samples in a notebook for future reference. You will learn to plan your project, decipher a threading draft, measure and wind a warp, dress the loom from back to front, and weave a set of from 4 to 6 mats, each with a different treadling pattern of your choosing.

Level Up Your Spindle Skills. Spindles allow you to spin an astonishing range of fibers and yarns.
This class will help you:
Adjust your short draw to spin yarn of various thicknesses.
Try spinning a long draw on supported and suspended spindles.
Avoid pain by using ergonomic practices.
Learn how to ply yarn from your spindles without major tangles.

Prerequisites for participants (BYOS - Bring Your Own Spindle)
Must be able to spin a continuous thread on the spindle that the student brings.

Students will learn the basics of tablet/card weaving, including warping a loom using tablets/cards, reading a simple pattern, tension & beating tips, and finishing your band.

The instructor will provide all tools, including loom, yarn, tablets/cards, and shuttle.
No experience required.

Note: This class will provide a good opportunity to learn the basics of tablet weaving ahead of the Intermediate Tablet weaving class we are offering in September.

We still have a few openings available in Kelli Crispin's Stitched Shibori Techniques class. The last day to register is May 16th.
No experience required!

Class dates:
Saturday, May 30th 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Sunday, May 31st 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Japanese term “shibori” describes a variety of techniques for compressing and securing cloth to create beautiful dye resist patterns. The class will focus on stitched shibori techniques, and students will dye the fabric in an indigo vat. We will discuss the use of different needles and types/weights of thread and fabric, knots for beginning and end of stitch rows, use of buffers, flat stitching, stitching on a fold, and combining stitching with binding techniques.

Learn to make yarn on a hand spindle, an ancient tool that’s still in use. The combination of a spindle’s portability and its ability to make very fine and very thick yarns make it a viable choice for modern spinning.

Instructor will provide basic spindles and fiber for students to use. For those who would like to continue spinning, you will have the option to purchase a spindle and 4 oz of roving from the Instructor. Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to purchase these.

No spinning experience is required.
