Moving into the warm weather seasons, we just held a Unified Tennis and Pickleball Play day with the UNC Club Tennis Team! Our Special Olympics Orange County OJs will be scrimmaging at the halftime of the Northwood High School Boys Game this Friday, at 7:30pm! All fans are welcome to attend the high school game. Winter registration is open for the 2025-2026 season!!! We are offering basketball, cheerleading, competitive swimming, and alpine skiing/snowboarding this winter season. The winter season runs from December through early March.

All athletes and volunteers are required to complete the on-line registration form attached. You may register for multiple sports.

The PACE Program is designed to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in engaging in regular and meaningful exercise. In this program, adults in North Carolina and Arkansas with intellectual and developmental disabilities are provided a structured 16-week program to increase physical activity.

Participants will work with an individual coach of their choosing to set goals related to physical activity and track their progress on those goals using technology. In addition, PACE program participants will attend weekly, community-based exercise classes in an inclusive setting with trained exercise professionals.

We are looking for...

Adults that are 18+, have an intellectual disability, and want to increase their physical activity. They must be willing to drive regularly to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill or to the University of Arkansas in Northwest Arkansas to participate.

Participants will engage in the PACE Program from 16 to 32 weeks.

Participants will need transportation to the weekly community exercise class.

Participants will need someone to be their coach during the program to help them meet their goals.

Participating adults and their coaches will receive financial compensation.

The town will be hosting a two-person bocce tournament on Saturday, October 25th at the Chapel Hill Community Center The town will be hosting a two-person bocce tournament on Saturday, October 25th at the Chapel Hill Community Center courts. The event will be managed by Richie DiFranco, one of our Special Olympics bocce coaches, but please note this is not a Special Olympics event.

The tournament will be double elimination and will serve as a fundraiser for the court renovation project scheduled for this November. Team registration is just $10—come out, have fun, and support a great cause!
