This week on NPR Morning Edition there was a nice segment on the new film, Without Getting Killed or Caught: The Life and Music of Guy Clark.

The film explores the life and career of the legendary songwriter, Guy Clark, and the relationship with his wife, Susanna, and their friend, Townes Van Zandt. All three were talented and influential artists who lived on the edge and outside the lines in a rather unusual arrangement.

NPR's Noel King talks to Tamara Saviano, the director of Without Getting Killed or Caught, a documentary detailing the life of songwriter Guy Clark, who didn't care about mainsteam music.

My colleague at WUNC Music, Brian Burns, featured a new song from a forthcoming recording by Jake Xerxes Fussell for NPR's series.

The recording is due next year, but you can listen to the first song from it in Brian's piece. It's been featured on "Back Porch Music" a couple of times and it's great!

"Love Farewell'' is a heartbreaking song of love during war time that Jake Xerxes Fussell reinterprets and refreshes masterfully, over a haunting pedal steel.

It was recently announced that a musical remembrance of the late Tony Rice will be released in December. Rice was a supremely talented and highly influential acoustic guitarist.
