Since 1999, the North Carolina Institute for Public Health (NCIPH) has served as a bridge between academia and public health practice partners including state and local public health agencies, healthcare and community organizations. Although formally established in 1999, some of NCIPH’s core programs, particularly continuing education, began in the 1930s as a core function of public health at UNC-

Chapel Hill. With a mission to “deliver training, conduct research and provide technical assistance to transform the practice of public health for all,” NCIPH serves as a resource for public health professionals across the state, region and country. NCIPH staff come from a diverse range of fields, including public health, medical sciences, GIS technology, and more.

Brandyn is a Human Services Evaluator Fellow working with the Woman, Infant, and Community Wellness Section. In this role, Brandyn contributes to the evaluations of maternal and reproductive health programming efforts across the state in many county health departments.

As a second year Epidemiology Fellow on the Climate and Health Team, Jahvona contributes to building resilience within her community and across the state of North Carolina to mitigate the effects of climate change. “This fellowship presents a unique opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and network with a diverse group of professionals in various public health roles,” says Jahvona.
