Club members in the sheep project had the chance to visit Collins Farm today. They were excited for the chance to see lambs of all sizes and even visit some ex-show lambs that are now having lambs of their own. It was a great time and they appreciated the opportunity to visit,!

The Best Yet 4-H Club held its February meeting Sunday, February 8th, 2026, in the basement of the Home Savings Bank in Chanute. This month’s meeting was run by the parents of the officers and was called to order by Parent President Jill Kepley. Members, leaders, and guests joined together for the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was answered by “What is your Pet’s Name?” It was answered by 23 members, 4 leaders and 1 guest. Kathy read the minutes of the last meeting, which were approved and read. Josh gave a treasurer’s report and Sarah reported that Grace had submitted a report to both the Chanute Tribune and the Southwind District page. Josh also entertained members with a few jokes.
In committee reports, members discussed baking pies for the Soupline in Chanute. Then, leaders handed out record books and awards to members. They also placed the club’s purple seal on the club charter. In new business, Grace moved to bake pies for community service and to set a $200 budget. Kaiden seconded, motion passed. A committee was formed of Lainey and Hadley. Members will bake pies on the evening of February 18th. Nolan and Cassidy moved and seconded to adjourn the business meeting, and the gavel was passed to Parent Vice President Chelsea. Members sang Happy Birthday to the February birthdays. Ty gave a talk on swine and Nora gave a talk on her dairy heifer. The Watts family provided refreshments. The next meeting will be Sunday, March 8th.

January 2025 Meeting!

The Best Yet 4-H Club held its January meeting Sunday, January 11th in the basement of the Home Savings Bank in Chanute. After the meeting was called to order by President Ty Kepley, members, leaders, and parents participated in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Roll call for the meeting was “What is your favorite snack food?” and was answered by 18 members and 3 leaders. Sam read the minutes of the December meeting, which were approved as read. Rylee gave a treasurer’s report and Grace reported that Laura had submitted a report to both the Chanute Tribune and the Southwind District page. Nolan entertained members with a few “dad jokes.”

Maddie gave a parliamentary presentation on the order of meeting. In committee reports, Ty let the club know that we would not be participating in Model Meeting at 4-H Days due to scheduling conflicts. Maddie gave a fundraiser committee update and Grace reminded members to submit recipes for the cookbook fundraiser. Cassidy gave an update from the 4-H auction committee and suggested that the club make a monetary donation.

In new business, Grace moved to make a $250 donation to the Neosho County 4-H Dinner and Auction. Max seconded and the motion was passed. Sam walked members through how to rescind a motion from a previous meeting. Maddie and Grace led to motion to rescind the club’s participation in the Model Meeting at 4-H Days. Nolan and Lainey moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting. After reciting the 4-H motto, Sam gave a talk on Cattle Digestion and Bloat. Members then enjoyed recreation and refreshments. The next meeting will be Sunday, February 8th.

Best Yet's December Meeting!

The Best Yet 4-H Club held its December meeting Sunday, December 14, in the basement of Home Savings Bank in Chanute. President Tyler Kepley called the meeting to order at 4 pm. Sawyer led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. Twenty-three member and four leaders answered roll call by telling what they want for Christmas.

Sam read the minutes from the November meeting and they were approved as read. Rylie gave the treasurer’s report and Grace reported that she had sent the reporter’s report for November to the Chanute Tribune and the Southwind Extension face book page

Leader Jill Kepley reminded everyone that the fair board dinner/auction will be February 14, 2025. She also reported that the fair board has made a change to procedure for determining the beef classification for the fair. The upper limit for sheep weight has been raised. Sarah Schoenecker reported that the fair board is asking clubs to submit name suggestions for the open class building.

There was no unfinished business. In new business, Cassidy moved that we suggest the open class building be named the “Sunflower” building. Laura seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Nolan moved to adjourn the business meeting by saying the 4-H motto. Kaiden seconded. Motion carried.

The club celebrated December birthdays. Laura presented a food talk about cinnamon and peppermint. The meeting was concluded with members playing Christmas games and enjoying the variety of Christmas treats.

The November meeting of the Best Yet 4-H Club was called to order by President Ty Kepley on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, at 4 pm in the basement of the Home Savings Bank in Chanute. 25 members and 2 leaders answered the roll call of “What are you thankful for?”. Sam read the minutes of October’s meeting. They were approved as read. Rylee and Grace gave the treasurer’s report and the reporter’s report. Sam also reported about the last 4-H Council meeting. Leader Sarah Schoenecker reminded club members about the upcoming Achievement Banquet on November 13th and to make sure to complete your enrollment by December 1st. In new business, club members voted to participate in a Model Meeting at 4-H Days on February 7th. After celebrating November birthdays, Cassidy gave a talk on ethanol production and Rylee gave a talk on her sewing projects. Following the meeting, club members enjoyed refreshments and painted clovers for the club Christmas tree which will be on display at the Chanute Art Gallery through the end of December.

Club officers attended officers' training in Moran on Oct 26th. Those attending were Grace Schoenecker, Reporter, Sam Fischbach, Secretary, Cole Jesseph, Vice President and Claire Schoenecker, Jr. President. Laura Fischbach, Co-Reporter, participated via Zoom. The Neosho County 4-H Council met after the training and Sam was elected Treasurer.

Best Yet celebrated National 4-H week with a window display on Main street in Chanute and 4-H Sunday at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute. After the service, we moved to the Home Savings Bank meeting room for our October meeting and lunch.

The meeting was called to order by the out going President Maddie Kepley. The leaders then conducted officer installation. Senior Officers for the 2025-2026 year are: President-Tyler Kepley, Vice President-Cole Jesseph, Secretary-Sam Fischbach, Treasurer-Rylee Dent, Reporters- Laura Fischbach and Grace Schoenecker, Parliamentarian- Maddie Kepley, Council Representatives-Cole Jesseph and Sam Fischbach, Alternates-Tyler Kepley and Rylee Dent, Historians-Lane Meyer and Lucas Meyer. Junior Officers: President-Claire Schenecker, Vice President-Caleb Jesseph, Secretary-Jase Kepley, Treasurer-Cassidy Watts, Reporter-Lydia Meyer, Recreation-Lainey Kepley and Wyatt Laber, Song Leaders-Cambry Jesseph, Nora Dunn and Jayci Edwards, Flag Salute- Sawyer Czarnowsky, Club Greeter/Inspiration-Nolan Dent.

Roll Call was answered by 25 member and 4 leaders with their favorite movie. The September minutes were read and approved as presented. Sam read a communication from the Chanute Art Gallery asking if we planned on doing a Christmas tree for their “Festival of Trees” show. Rylie gave the treasurer’s report. Grace reported that Rylee had reported to the Chanute Tribune and the Southwind Extension for September. There was no council report.

Committee report: Grace reminded everyone that the fall party will be October 18th at 4:30 at 160th and Kiowa road. There will be a chili/soup contest, fishing, crafts, games and a hayrack ride.

Leaders report: Jill reminded everyone that you must pay the $15 when you complete this year’s enrollment. If you are enrolled before November 1, you will be eligible for a new T-shirt from 4-H council. Project Palooza will be October 25th at the Chanute Recreation Center from 9-12. Everyone is welcome to come see and hear about different projects. Officers training will be October 26th at 3 in Moran. Achievement banquet will be Thursday, November 13th in Erie. District 4-H days will be February 7th and Regional on February 28th.

New Business: Grace moved to create a committee to do a Christmas tree for the Art Gallery. Nora seconded. Motion passed. Claire moved to set a $100 budget for the tree. Maddie seconded. Motion passed. The committee is: Grace -chair, Claire, Cassidy, Lainey, Wyatt and Laura.

Grace moved to do a Best Yet cookbook as a money maker for the 2026-2027 4-H year. Jackson seconded. Motion passed.

Nolan moved we adjourn the business meeting by saying the 4-H motto. Rylee seconded. Motion passed. Maddie led the club in saying the motto.

Program: Birthdays were celebrated. Club then took a picture with all the contributions to the St. Pat’s food bank for our 48 hours of service.

The club ended this day with a great Taco Bar!
