June is PPROM Awareness Month 💙💙 It is so much more than just a pregnancy complication. Premature rupture of the membranes can lead to many complications for baby AND mom.

When my water broke at 28 weeks with Sawyer, he was delivered within 16 hours via emergency C-section after having suffered a placental abruption. I had already been on bed rest for a month leading up to the event due to low fluid and a slow, suspected amniotic fluid leak. At that time, Sawyer also suffered from IUG or interuterine growth restriction.

Did you suffer from PPROM in your pregnancy? How did it affect you? I think the one takeaway I would want people to know the most about PPROM is that it absolutely changes you. I suffer with PTSD to this day, I tend to be very overprotective of my kids because I know how quickly things can change (believe me I'm working on that). Something I didn't know was possible, changed my life forever...

Today is World Preeclampsia Day.

1 in 10 pregnancies are affected by preeclampsia.

This isn’t rare.
This isn’t “just high blood pressure.”
And this isn’t something we talk about enough.

Preeclampsia can turn deadly fast.
Stroke.
Seizures.
Organ failure.
Premature birth.
NICU stays.
Loss.

Too many mothers are told they’re “just swollen.”
“Just anxious.”
“Just overreacting.”

Until it becomes an emergency.

So today we spread awareness.
We talk about the symptoms.
We listen to mothers.
And we remind pregnant women that speaking up could save their life.

World Preeclampsia Day matters because awareness saves moms and babies.

Today is (Preeclampsia is most often characterized by a rapid rise in blood pressure that can lead to seizure, stroke, or multiple organ failure).

❔DID YOU KNOW❔Preeclampsia rates are on the rise in the US and are a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. All women need to know the risk factors for developing high blood pressure during pregnancy.

‼️ Preeclampsia can occur in any pregnancy, so ALL moms should be aware of these symptoms:
1. Swelling of face (especially around eyes) or hands
2. Weight gain of more than 5 pounds in one week
3. Headache that won't go away even after taking medication
4. Vision impairment, such as seeing spots or flashing lights
5. Nausea or vomiting (especially suddenly after mid-pregnancy)
6. Belly/stomach pain in the upper right side
7. Difficulty breathing, gasping for air or panting

*It is important to note, that some women with preeclampsia do NOT experience any symptoms, so be sure to maintain your prenatal appointments with your doctor*

Postpartum preeclampsia can happen up to six weeks postpartum. It's important that women pay attention to specific postpartum symptoms, including severe headache, vision changes, swelling of the hands and face, and especially difficulty breathing.

Today was such a Blessing! I don't know if I have the right words to adequately describe seeing this ministry in action. Before I walked in the door, the tears were flowing. Susan, Founder of Rest in His Arms, greeted me with a hug like we had known each other all our lives 🥹 These women dedicate their time and talent by turning donated wedding gowns into angel gowns, tiny bonnets, blankets, and more 🩷🩵🪽

Rest In His Arms also provides funerals and burials for abandoned children in Illinois. Their Mission Statement:

"So Every Baby Can Be Wrapped In Love" 🩷🩵🙏🏼
