Project Fire Buddies is a heartfelt program that supports children battling critical illnesses by connecting them with local firefighters and first responders. ❤️🚒
🤝 How does it work?
Children are paired with their own “Fire Buddy”—a firefighter who offers comfort, fun and companionship throughout their journey. From visits and messages to special surprises, Fire Buddies help bring joy, hope, and relief to children battling critical illnesses and their families.
💛 Why it matters:
Facing a serious illness can feel overwhelming. Project Fire Buddies reminds kids and their families that they are not alone—there’s a whole team cheering them on every step of the way.

Memorial Day is not just a long weekend — it is a time to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to this nation. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As members of Channahon Professional Firefighters Local 4681, we stand with deep gratitude and respect for all who served and sacrificed. We carry their legacy with us every day.

Today, we remember.

On this day, 23 years ago, our nation faced one of its darkest moments. In the midst of unimaginable tragedy, we witnessed the extraordinary bravery, sacrifice, and strength of first responders—especially firefighters—who ran toward danger to save lives.

We honor the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, as well as those who have since passed due to 9/11-related illnesses.

We will never forget their courage, nor the families and loved ones they left behind. Today, and every day, we stand united in remembrance, honoring their legacy and renewing our dedication to service.

Today, Wren's Warriors rang the bell at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital, marking the end of her 861-day treatment journey and her victory over cancer! Surrounded by family and friends, she celebrated this significant milestone. Project Fire Buddies and the Channahon Fire Protection District then surprised her with a full es**rt home, coordinated with the help of the Channahon Police Department, Village of Channahon, IL and Pink Heals Joliet Area Chapter. We are thrilled for Wren and proud of her incredible strength and determination. She kicked cancer's butt!

Today, as we celebrate the birth of our great nation, let's remember the bravery and sacrifice of those who have fought for our freedoms. Whether you're enjoying fireworks, a BBQ with family, or a day at the park, please stay safe and remember to follow fire safety guidelines.
