Holding HOPE

Holding HOPE We are committed to creating normalcy in the lives of children fighting chronic illnesses by funding events through the sales of inspirational apparel. Thomas.

Holding HOPE was created by three college students at the University of St. The organization began as a dream to affect change and better the lives of others. The team was impacted by stories of those who have experienced childhood illness and lived within a hospital setting. One of their very own co-founders experienced first-hand the constant trials of being in a hospital as a young kid. Holding

HOPE strives to positively affect children who are going through the health care system. Holding HOPE was born to solve the problem of providing esthetically appealing and useful backpacks for children’s stays in hospitals. The backpacks are multipurpose; the backpacks allow the children to carry their belongings from appointment to appointment as well as for use when tests are conducted that require a bag for continued mobility. Holding HOPE operates by giving a bag filled with HOPE, every time a customer buys a bag. The donated bag is given to a heroic child in need at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Holding HOPE is a premium backpack organization that provides backpacks to customers as well as children within the healthcare system. The bags serve to act as a literal representation of helping all people to continue Holding HOPE.

We need your help. Please don't stop reading, we're not asking for money! Holding Hope recently partnered with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN to fund fun events for children and their families stuck in the hospital. These children include pediatric cancer patients as well as children with other life threatening chronic illnesses. Understandably, these children and their families usually encounter uninterrupted mental stress which can lead to added health complications. It's a vicious cycle. IT IS OUR GOAL TO BREAK THIS CYCLE. The entertaining events we arrange for the pediatric care unit at Mayo will create memorable moments of joy, peace and hope for all those attending. We know from past experiences that these moments can go a long way in reenergizing both the children along with their families.

We also know that these events will cost money, and that the less money each event costs, the more events we can put on in the future. That's where you come in. We need your help finding entertainers who may be interested in performing at the pediatric care unit in Rochester, MN for free. We are looking for a wide variety of performers, from magicians to mobile petting zoos. If you know an entertainer who may be interested in performing, please share this post with him or her. If you don't have someone in mind, please share this post in hopes that a friend or a friend of a friend may be able to help. Please message us if you're interested. Thank you!

We've been in the midst of reexamining what role we can take in the fight against pediatric cancer and other chronic illnesses affecting children. Our new mission statement: "We are committed to creating normalcy in the lives of children fighting chronic illnesses by funding captivating events through the sales of our inspirational apparel."

We're making progress but there's still plenty of work to be done! As 30 year old Jasmine Jean, a pediatric cancer survivor, states, “I don’t feel like I’ve ever been cured because the late effects of cancer are so traumatic".

Survival of childhood cancers is higher in recent decades. But a new study shows that survivors' overall self-reported health has not improved in tandem.

“Cancer is the best and worse thing that’s ever happened to me. It has made crystal clear what is important in life – my relationships with my loved ones… So while obviously I wish the circumstances were a little different, I consider myself so blessed for the time I do have to spend with Denise and Ross.” -Cancer Patient, Joel Baumgard... Even those fighting cancer can find thankfulness; think about how much gratitude you should be able to find! Share what you're thankful for.

Your eyes aren't broken. You are seeing through the eyes of a child with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma ("DIPG"). As the disease slowly takes away the ability to control the body, the mind is left to decide what remains of a distorted reality. Perception is skewed. Senses are slowly muted. All the while the boys and girls inside are completely awake and unable to communicate with those they love and trust. They are stripped of their freedoms before they are stripped of their lives. May is about spreading awareness for DIPG and all brain cancers. May is about facing the dark and grim realities that surround us everyday--the realities none of us ever want to be affected by. May is about truth, and hope, and courage, and having difficult conversations with friends and strangers about Parker, or Katherine The Brave and all the other kids you see fighting for their lives. At the end of those conversations you will find only love and that compassion--and the world could use more of that.
Please pray for this young boy named Parker.

"Macklyn is sleeping a lot more lately... Last night her breathing sounded the slightest bit labored. Nothing terrible, but I wonder if her body is starting to fail a little bit.
Her tumor is getting too big. Its getting harder for her to eat. Her lip is all swollen on the left & she can't even close her mouth all the way.
As heart wrenching as it is, I plead with God every night that he will take her. I know he's waiting to receive her, she's just not ready to leave us. I hope she changes her mind soon. I can't bare to watch her suffer much more." - Macklyn's mother

Please pray for Macklyn and her family. May God be with you all.

"This is my sister Sarah she has cancer in her leg and is the biggest warrior ik. She went through 7 weeks at Chop of proton therapy and always has that smile. It would be amazing if you could post her picture for the world to see a warrior."
Thank you for sharing this special angel with the world!
