Nine years ago this month, we took our first trip to Indonesia and met our friend Syukur Alfajar along with so many incredible elephants. Over the past nine years, we have visited facilities across the country, dealt with many challenges along the way, and consistently offered our services to support better care—something we continue to do today.

​We know that progress and change take time, but here BBKSDA Sumatera Utara Balai PPSDM Wilayah I Pematangsiantar Jekson Pasaribu Habeahan , something truly special for elephants is in the works. Nine years in, and we are still evolving.

As our Polish journey comes to a close, all of us at Elephant Care Unchained want to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible teams who welcomed us over the past two months.

Having the opportunity to visit almost every zoo in Poland with elephants was a privilege. A massive thank you to , , , , and of course for opening your doors, sharing your time, and letting us exchange knowledge and techniques with your teams. I learned just as much from all of you as hoped to share

It was a true pleasure working alongside dedicated caregivers committed to advancing elephant welfare. We look forward to following the progress of your programs and can't wait to return next year.

Years ago, Warszawskie ZOO 🐘 pioneered the use of sand bedding in Poland, and it’s still a massive hit today. Buba, Fryderyka, and Leon are taking full advantage of it—even Leon, a giant bull elephant, has no trouble finding a cozy spot to lounge on the sand.
