🔥 ʻŌTEʻA 🔥

‘Ori Tahiti, or Tahitian dance, featuring Lucia of Hālau Hula ʻO Kalikopuakalehua, as our Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula student dancers return to the foundations of ʻOri Tahiti.

Our vāhine work their tāmau and fa’arapu, building control and consistency, while our tāne bring the pā’oti to life.

Back to the basics. Strong foundations. 🌺🔥

🌺 Every mele has a story. Every movement gives that story life.

Our wāhine of Hālau Hoʻokahi I Ka Hula share Aloha Kauaʻi, a beloved composition by Aunty Maʻiki Aiu Lake. This mele expresses a deep aloha for the island of Kauaʻi, honoring its beauty and the special places that make the Garden Isle so cherished.

Through the kino, the facial expressions, and the ʻike passed down through generations, hula allows us to see the poetry of the mele unfold before us.

Our keiki of Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula sharing Ka Uluwehi O Kekai, a beautiful hula written by Edith Kanaka’ole that celebrates the many limu of the sea and the abundance of our ocean.

This cherished choreography by Kumu Hula Alice Puluelo Naipo Park continues to be passed on to the next generation with care and aloha. We are grateful to our musicians of Ho’onani Music for bringing this mele to life with live music, creating an experience that connects our dancers to the traditions they are learning to carry forward.

Watching our keiki grow in both hula and ʻike is one of our greatest joys.

Today, we proudly recognize and congratulate Tina and Angelica on successfully passing their evaluations and earning their place in our advanced sister group, Hālau Hula ʻO Kalikopuakalehua.

This achievement reflects their dedication, discipline, humility, and commitment to the values and protocols of the hālau. We are proud of the hard work they have put into reaching this milestone.

As they begin this new chapter, Tina and Angelica will continue training in select Hālau Hoʻokahi I Ka Hula classes to further strengthen their foundation while also training with Hālau Hula ʻO Kalikopuakalehua.

If you see them in class, be sure to say aloha and congratulations as they embark on this next step in their hula journey. We are incredibly proud of you both!

Strength is built one practice at a time. 🌺

At Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula, our haumāna are encouraged to embrace every opportunity to grow. While hula remains the foundation of who we are, many of our dancers also challenge themselves by learning the beautiful and powerful art of ʻOri Tahiti.

Every movement teaches discipline. Every practice builds confidence. Every performance is a reminder that growth comes through commitment, perseverance, and heart.

Keep dancing, learning and believing in what you’re capable of! ✨

Today we honor the kāne who help carry our traditions forward…whether as dancers, musicians, leaders, or the dads supporting from behind the scenes.

From setting up before events and helping wherever needed, to encouraging their children through rehearsals, performances, and challenges, your presence strengthens our hālau and our lāhui.

Mahalo for leading with humility, service, and aloha. Your dedication reminds us that the perpetuation of culture is not carried by one person alone, but by the entire ʻohana working together.

We celebrate and honor you today and every day.

Hauʻoli Lā Mākuakāne, Happy Father’s Day! ❤️

Hau’oli Lā Mākuahine & Happy Mothers’ Day! 💐

Today we celebrate the mākuahine and kūpuna wāhine whose aloha, strength, and guidance continue to shape our communities and future generations.

From nurturing our keiki to carrying forward ʻike kūpuna and cultural traditions, your presence is deeply valued and appreciated every day.

This Mother’s Day, we also honor two of our beloved cultural practitioners, Lucia and Tyanna, and our Kumu Hula Nālani, whose dedication to both ʻohana and community reflects the spirit of aloha in action. We also honor all mothers in our student group, Hālau Ho’okahi I Ka Hula.

Happy Mothersʻ Day & Hau’oli Lā Mākuahine from all of us! 💐

Our new student orientation this past Saturday went so well, and we’re excited to welcome so many new faces into our Hālau. 💛

Sharing a special moment from our tamāri’i and taure’are’a (youth) at the Aloha Festival 2026, as they continue their journey in ‘ori Tahiti.

Some classes have already filled, but we still have space available in others. We’ll continue accepting new students as space allows through the end of August.

Come join us 🌺
