So what is there to learn as our world goes through the Covid-19 pandemic? It is very instructive, but I can assure you it is not "apocalyptic" in terms of the events described in Revelation. But there is much to learn as we walk through this world-wide crisis.
When this event first started to take place, my wise wife called it a "dry run" in terms of end-times. She is so right! What we are seeing as the events unfold are:
-fear and sometimes panic,
-a desperate search for reliable information,
-a choice between competing sources of the "truth",
-and generally, a universal looking to our human leaders
for the cause and the solution.
In Revelation 6, when the world changes dramatically, fear is the universal response. And in the face of that fear, people choose between trusting God, (who has told us exactly what is going to happen in Revelation) and Satan, who offers himself and his minions as the solution to fearsome events. At that time and in this time, what really matters is who you trust.
Whatever is happening in our world, God is in charge! And in situations like the one we are in, it is important to remember that we are held in the hands of God, and He is calling us to trust Him and to do those things that demonstrate that trust. Right now, I believe we are to listen to our God-appointed leaders and seek to be part of the solution and not the problem. So we wash our hands and quit touching our faces and be careful not to endanger others. And we prayerfully seek to be lights in the world by serving others and being at peace!
It's not the end of the world! But when those days come, believers will trust God and embrace what He is calling us to do and be in dark times. Jesus said it: "You are the light of the world!"
