Time flies when you’re having fun — and when you’re surrounded by great people in the masonry industry.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday for AMC’s Annual Member Meeting. We are grateful for the members, partners, and industry friends who continue to show up, stay engaged, and support the work being done to strengthen Arizona’s masonry community.

It was a great opportunity to connect, reflect on what’s ahead, and spend time with the people who help move this industry forward.

Creativity, community, and a whole lot of cans. The A/E/C community came together over the weekend for CANstruction Phoenix, building incredible sculptures made entirely from canned goods in support of St. Mary's Food Bank.

The structures are now on display for the next two weeks at Arrowhead Towne Center on the first level.

Special shoutout to AMC’s own Dawn Rogers, Chair of the CANstruction event with AIA Arizona (Phoenix Chapter), for helping lead this meaningful industry event.

AMC Executive Director Dawn Rogers spent last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan, attending the CMHA Midyear Meeting.

The week included industry meetings, great conversations, national masonry connections, and a little friendly competition on the golf course — Shout to Dawn and her team came - They took third place in the tournament!

Meetings were attended, golf was completed, fun was had, and AMC was proud to be part of the conversation.

AMC’s Train the Trainer event brought together 20 high school and community college instructors during the AZCTE Conference for a full day of masonry education, hands-on learning, and industry connection.

The day included hands-on training at Oldcastle Tucson, followed by a presentation and lunch at Sundt Construction. One of the highlights was seeing AMC’s Southern Arizona apprentices step up as trainers, sharing their skills and experience directly with the teachers who are helping prepare the next generation.

The networking was just as valuable, with schools already offering masonry training connecting with those just getting started.

We are grateful for the continued support, the strong feedback, and the momentum behind masonry education in Arizona. AMC’s 2027 Train the Trainer event is already on the calendar.

Design decisions matter in the field.
This STRUCTURE Magazine article is a great reminder that better masonry projects start with communication between engineers, designers, and the masons building the work.

What a Week for Arizona Masonry!

Last week, Arizona Masonry Council spent time in Tucson connecting with architects, engineers, contractors, members, industry advocates, and future industry leaders. These conversations are essential to strengthening relationships, supporting our members, and advancing masonry throughout Arizona.

We wrapped up the week with Module 10: Leadership – What Separates Good Leaders from Great Ones?, where construction professionals gathered to invest in their growth, leadership skills, and the future of their teams.

From jobsite conversations and member visits to professional development and workforce training, AMC continues to build connections that strengthen our industry.

This Memorial Day, the Arizona Masonry Council pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their strength, dedication, and sacrifice built the foundation of the freedoms we enjoy today.

From all of us at Arizona Masonry Council — thank you to those who served, those we remember, and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

The Arizona Masonry Council was proud to recognize two extraordinary leaders with the prestigious 2026 Bart Del Duca Award during the Excellence in Masonry Awards at the Arizona Biltmore.

Congratulations to:
>> Larry L. Enyart, FAIA — honored posthumously for a lifetime of leadership in architecture, military service, sustainable design, and mentorship. His influence helped shape public safety facilities and the future of solar architecture across the United States.

>> Eddie Jones, FAIA — recognized for decades of architectural excellence and unwavering advocacy for masonry as both structure and expression. His work continues to inspire generations through purposeful Southwestern design rooted in place and material integrity.

The Bart Del Duca Award recognizes individuals whose careers leave a lasting impact on the masonry and architectural communities through innovation, leadership, service, and dedication to excellence.

Thank you both for helping shape the built environment — and the people within it.
