Ability in Disability Putting more ABILITY in Disability.... through education and knowledge. Ability in Disability has education programs for both children and adults.

The Children's Education Program reaches all ages of children by using age appropriate interactive education sessions. The Corporate/Adult Education Program uses the same interactive activities as the Children's program, however, the presentation of material is geared for mature adults capable of understanding more complex subjects. We also offer Support Programs for people living with disabilities. Our "STAND Program" (Support To put Ability iN Disability) will bring support and resources to people living with disabilities. If you need help finding resources to get driving again, playing sports, or just doing everyday things around the house, we can help. We also work in conjunction with Joni & Friends to bring "Special Deliveries" to people living with disabilities. Because many people living with disabilities cannot leave their homes for different reasons, we will bring them encouragement through the means of a "goody bag". Goody bags can contain books, Bibles, stuffed animals, DVD's, music CD's and/or cookies.

I wanted to give a huge thank you to Bubba's 33 in College Station, TX for an amazing experience. They have an adjustable bar top which I thought was so cool.

ADA guidelines require that at least 5% of your bar top seating—and a minimum of one seat—must be accessible to patrons using wheelchairs. Accessible portions of the bar top must stand no higher than 34 inches from the floor and provide adequate knee and toe clearance. It is important to note that the ADA explicitly prohibits segregating patrons with disabilities. Accessible bar seats must be integrated directly into the overall bar space and cannot be tucked away in an isolated "handicapped-only" area.

They also have a family bathroom, which I definitely appreciate.

CONGRATULATIONS, SEAN! Sean Roberts, 18, a special needs student, walked the the stage during his graduation ceremony on Friday.

Roberts is nonverbal and walks with the assistance of devices and those around him.

His school initially told his mother he would not be allowed to walk the stage because it would take too long for him to walk across the stage.

The mother made a social media post about it and it went viral, prompting the school to reverse course and let Robert walk the stage. (📹: Killeen ISD)
