My friends at Wheel the World and I have worked hard to put this amazing trip together, and I honestly believe that it’ll be the most fun Curb Free Group Trip yet! Did you know that five major airlines are trying to strip away essential protections for travelers with disabilities? American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have joined forces to challenge legislation that ensures safe and dignified travel for wheelchair users.

These airlines argue that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) lacks the authority to enforce this rule. If they succeed, it could significantly setback our right to safe air travel.

The frustration is REAL when I can't do something as simple as look at clothes in a store. It's moments like this when we become fully aware that the disabled community is an afterthought. I am fortunate that I am able to stretch and reach to an extent, but that didn't last long because of how much pain it caused my body. But the thing is, MANY people would not be able to reach that top rack. Stores want to pack in as much product as possible, but then employees will roll their eyes or moan if you ask for help, and many of us want to be independent and not rely on others.

I'm sure I'm going to receive comments about how I should just shop online, but no.. people with disabilities deserve to shop in stores just as able bodied, people do

IMPORTANT Emergency Preparedness for Wheelchair-Users (or anyone that needs help evacuating during a fire or other emergency):

Make sure to register yourself as a person with a disability at the nearest firehouse by your home. You will be listed as a "Code 1 fire emergency disability evacuation/evacuee" and they will make sure firefighters know you will need help evacuating ASAP in case of an emergency in your house or building.
