Cub Scout Activities
Den Meetings:
Your son will meet weekly or bi-weekly with a group of other boys who are in his grade. This provides him a chance to make new friends and do new activities with a close group of friends. Pack Meetings:
This is a meeting for all Cub Scouts and parents to get together to recognize their sons for the achievements they have accomplished during each month. Skits,
songs and plays are just a few activities during a Pack meeting. Pinewood Derby Races:
Pack competition where the Cub Scout makes a racing car for competition. Action oriented. Involves games, crafts, skills, nature, archery and at some locations, BB gun instruction. Summer Camp\Webelos Outpost:
Resident camping at Scout camps in MN and WI during the summer. Involves games, crafts, skills, nature, swimming, boating, archery and BB gun instruction. Blue & Gold Banquet:
Large pack meeting in February where families come together to celebrate the birthday of the Cub Scout program. Most will hold a potluck, an ice cream and cake social or cater food for the event. Advancement programs and skits are the main attraction of the night. Family Activities:
There are different activities held throughout the year. Hay rides, tubing, Salvation Army bell ringing, caroling, and Me and My Gal Dance. Cub Scout Pack 276 was first chartered in 1945. Our pack is part of the Northern Lights District, and our district is part of the Northern Star Council. You can contact the district or council at 763-545-4550. The number of boys in the pack varies from year to year, but usually is around 40. The scouting year will consist of den meetings, pack meetings, pack events and other activities. We have a great program for boys in kindergarten through fifth grade. Most of our scouts attend Champlin Brooklyn Park Acadamy for Math and Environmental Science(CBPA), but we welcome any boys in the area who are interested in Cub Scouting. Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program that instills values such as citizenship, teamwork, honesty, respect, responsibility, and fitness, while being a lot of fun! The philosophy of Pack 276 is that scouting should be a game with a purpose. We want the boys to have a great time, while teaching them something along the way. We also believe that an important part of scouting is giving back to the community, through community service projects.
