We’re excited to introduce the individuals serving on the ASAS National Board!

Today, meet Dr. Clint Krehbiel, serving as President, from Texas Tech University, Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

But we want to know more than their title! 👇

🎓 What inspired you to pursue animal science? I was raised on a diversified farm and developed a passion for animal production and health at a young age. I was inspired by my father to work hard, appreciate what we had, and to love livestock. Especially cattle and horses. Animal Science was a natural degree path for me.

🐄 What is your favorite part of your work? I get to inspire students, staff, and faculty to make a difference in securing the future of food and fiber and their link to animal, plant, and ecosystem health for the betterment of the people we serve and the resilience of our rural communities.

🌱 What do you hope to see for the future of animal science? I hope the future of animal science is defined by innovation and collaboration as we continue advancing animal health, welfare, companionship, nutrition, reproduction, genetics, and sustainable protein production while addressing global challenges such as food security.

Today, meet Dr. Andrew Foote, serving as President Elect from Oklahoma State University.

But we want to know more than their title! 👇

🎓 What inspired you to pursue animal science? As an undergraduate student, I got involved in a research project and it sparked my interest in learning, research, and ruminant nutrition. That is when I knew I wanted to do research as a career. I have since learned that I love to help students learn the same things and watch the spark light in them.

🐄 What is your favorite part of your work? So many things! I love conducting research and learning how ruminants work. I enjoy working with collaborators and developing projects to make new discoveries. I also love to see students develop as professionals and scientists.

🌱 What do you hope to see for the future of animal science? I hope that animal science professionals keep pushing the boundaries of our understanding of livestock biology and production. I also hope we continue to invest deeply in developing future generations of animal scientists.

This event is designed to provide graduate and undergraduate students with opportunities to develop relationships with experts across several fields of animal science, including academia, extension, and industry. Our theme this year is “Building your CV for Success After Graduation”, we have several individuals with diverse experiences in different sectors of our industry to speak with students in a panel discussion format on this topic. Following a brief introduction from each speaker, we will hold a Q&A session to continue our conversations regarding how to optimize your time and experiences in graduate school in preparation for a successful career.
