Vision Statement
The vision of Pestilence prevention program is to see the eradication of widespread disease epidemics, such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and specifically, malaria, in Uganda. Our Missio
n
Pestilence prevention program is a non-profit missionary services organization, dedicated to providing services to people in need in Uganda and to advocate for better healthcare for the citizens of Uganda, particularly the children, newborns, and the unborn. Our mission also includes calling to action the entire world to assist us in these endeavors. The mission of Pestilence prevention program seeks to continually engage the services of our workers to actively promote the deliverance of the poor and oppressed in Uganda for the realization of human transformation and dignity. Awareness of Uganda’s Health Crisis
Pestilence prevention program acknowledges awareness of the public health crisis in Uganda and considers it a global concern. Dilapidated hospitals, short-staffed medical personnel, lack of medicine, lack of resources, lack of equipment and lack of funding puts Uganda in a most precarious position, as it relates to improving the health of its people and increasing life expectancies in the country. We are committed to being a front-runner in making a broad approach toward initiatives that will help remedy this crisis. We are also committed to this cause in a way that is indicative of a caring, responsible, and productive philanthropic organization, and we charge others to do the same. Commitment to the Health Cause
Health issues are a serious concern in Uganda with high levels of malaria transmissions yearly. Malaria is one of the main causes of death in Uganda, making up 14 percent of all deaths in the country. Additionally, many other health concerns contribute to the country’s high mortality rates and low life expectancies. The average life expectancy for people in Uganda is one of the lowest of all the countries in the world. This is not uncommonly true for pregnant women. For instance, the death rate of expectant mothers is one in every 200 at the time of labor and delivery. Additionally, as it relates to the country’s average life expectancy, approximately 1 million people are infected with HIV/AIDS, and a no more than 10 percent of the children in Uganda have protective insecticide-treated nets to sleep under to help protect them from malaria-carrying mosquitos. As a measure of hope, Pestilence prevention program will advocate and lobby for better healthcare facilities and getting more trained healthcare staff to the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports there are less than two healthcare workers to every 1,000 people in Uganda. Therefore, we will help to advocate for more funding in this area. Additionally, we will work in conjunction with other relief and help organizations to ensure an adequate drug supply for the country is provided. In addition, Pestilence prevention program we will initiate the importation of additional anti-malaria bed nets to the country to help combat the disease and keep more people, particularly children, safe from infected mosquitos. As reported in the 2010 World Malaria Report, there are approximately 44,000 deaths, due to malaria, each year in Uganda. We will also include advocating for blankets and other incidental necessities for the people of Uganda. As it relates to expectant mother deaths, Pestilence prevention program will work to initiate awareness programs aimed at family planning and sexual health issues and also to focus outreach imports of contraceptive pills for the women of Uganda. In addition, we will also focus efforts on assisting with efforts to implement immunization programs for the children of Uganda, under five years of age, to help protect them against deadly, but preventable, diseases. Our Main Focus
We promise to maintain a high level of commitment to continually supply quality services and to further promote program initiatives through advocacy and strategic alliances with other Ugandan assistance organizations. To meet these challenges, we will advocate for necessary resources and governmental consent to help the people of Uganda in any way that we can.
