40 Days for Life - Champaign-Urbana

40 Days for Life - Champaign-Urbana Peaceful prayer to save babies' lives. Part of an international, peaceful prayer collaboration each fall and spring in communities all over the world.

CAN YOU DEVOTE JUST ONE HOUR TO PRAY in the hope that a baby’s life may be spared? 40 Days for Life is a multi-church, multi-faith, international collaboration to pray peacefully for an end to abortion and for help and healing for all affected by abortion. Pro-life supporters are encouraged to pray outside abortion clinics such as our local Planned Parenthood and the new, interestingly named Equit

y Clinic. The abortion industry itself states that as many as 70% of abortion clients do NOT go thru with an abortion if they see people out praying with pro-life signage. Many of them instead find free, faith-based pregnancy centers for genuine help, love and compassion. Please devote JUST ONE HOUR just one time sometime between Feb. 22 and April 2. Visit www.40daysforlife.com to sign up for more details, for daily inspirational email messages and to sign up online for JUST ONE HOUR on the vigil calendar. In general, prayers are requested from 7 am to 7 pm seven days a week, but are also especially helpful on specific days when the abortion clinics are open (see details below). Champaign-Urbana is one of many communities participating in 40 Days for Life, the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization of this kind in history.

ACTION ALERT REGARDING DANGEROUS LEGISLATION BEING PUSHED IN ILLINOIS -- HB 4834 has passed the House and is now in the Senate.

If this bill becomes law, Illinois will remove the abortion pill from the Prescription Monitoring Program, a system designed to track high-risk drugs and protect patients from preventable harm.

This means:

1. It will become significantly harder to identify complications like hemorrhaging, sepsis, and life-threatening infections.
2. It will become more difficult for physicians to have a full picture of a patient’s (the woman who has taken the abortion pill) recent medical history in an emergency.
3. It will become nearly impossible to track patterns of harm tied to a drug that is already sending women to the ER at alarming rates.

A large-scale analysis of insurance data found that nearly 1 in 9 women - almost 11% - experienced a serious adverse event within 45 days of taking the abortion pill.

And instead of strengthening oversight and trying to PROTECT WOMEN FROM HARM, this bill actively removes it.

Illinois Right to Life Action has made it simple to take action. They’ve created a prewritten message you can send directly to your State Senator urging them to vote NO on HB 4834. Of course, you can modify this message as you see fit.

Please contact your Illinois State Senator to ask them to VOTE NO on HB 4834.

ANNUAL WAY OF THE CROSS FOR VICTIMS OF ABORTION

The annual “Way of the Cross for Victims of Abortion” service will be held outside abortion facilities nationwide on Friday, April 3, Good Friday.

This moving prayer service provides another opportunity for us to gather in solidarity as pro-lifers nationwide contemplate the suffering of Jesus Christ at our own modern-day Golgotha, the abortion facility.

Prayer booklets including Scripture readings and group prayers will be provided. These prayers follow what is known as The Stations of the Cross, which depict 14 events in the Passion of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jesus being condemned to death and ending with His body being laid in a tomb.

Anyone wishing to help read one the “Stations” should contact Mandy.

If you want to find a Way of the Cross for Victims of Abortion in another community, just use the link. There are many locations all across the country!

GROUP ROSARY TODAY on SUNDAY, MARCH 22 at 3 pm at Equity Clinic in Champaign.

Please come and join others as we pray the Rosary together on the public sidewalk outside the abortion facility. All are welcome, whether you know these prayers or not.

The Rosary is a set of Scripture-based prayers centered on the events of Christ’s life and which is commonly said by people who follow the Catholic faith. The Rosary includes prayers such as the Our Father, the Hail Mary, the Glory Be and others. For people of different faiths who do not acknowledge some of these prayers, you are welcome to substitute other prayers as you pray silently.

Anyone wishing to lead a Rosary is welcome to do so. We can always use more priests and deacons willing to devote a small amount of time to peaceful, pro-life prayer.

Today is a great day to come pray outside the abortion facility! It will be warming up by this afternoon, and much warmer yet tomorrow if today doesn't work for you.

Sadly, abortions are very much on the increase in Illinois and our current state leadership markets Illinois as an abortion destination. Many people are traveling from other states to Illinois, solely for the purpose of aborting their child.

Peaceful, public prayer is tremendously important. As many as 70% of potential abortion clients change their minds and choose life for their child if they simply see people out praying.

If you've never come out to pray publicly before, just comment or private message to arrange for one of our seasoned prayer warriors to meet you at the abortion facility. Hopefully, once you've done this once, you will want to come back and do so again.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few."
Matthew 9: 37-38

We can always use more laborers willing to come pray publicly to share God's love and message.

Abby Johnson once said, “When you come to pray, you are saving lives even if you don’t know it. Women see you and instead of pulling into the parking lot, they drive right by. When you are on the sidewalk, women see you as an outward sign of their inward conscience.”

In case you haven't heard of Abby Johnson, she worked for Planned Parenthood for many years before she switched to being a staunch pro-life advocate and founded her own pro-life organization.

Peaceful, public prayer outside abortion facilities saves lives. Even the abortion industry acknowledges it.

Even more helpful if you have a pro-life sign to hold while you pray that can direct people to help at free, faith-based pregnancy centers. If you need a sign, comment or message here.

And you can access our Resources list via our 40 Days for Life Champaign web site page. Helpful to have some Resources flyers on you when you are outside the abortion facility to give to their potential clients.

The Spring 2026 Prayer Vigil starts soon, on Wednesday, Feb. 18. However, Equity Clinic is not open for appointments that day. Their hours are as follows:

Thursday 12 noon to 5 pm (Please note that Thursdays are somewhat NEW.)

Friday 8 am to 5 pm

Saturday 8 am to 5 pm

Sunday 8 am to 5 pm

Monday 8 am to 5 pm

Please schedule some time to come pray. If you've never done this before, but feel that God may be placing this on your heart to do so, please comment or send a PM, so we can arrange to come pray with you. Many abortion clients change their minds and CHOOSE LIFE if they see someone out praying.

It's also very helpful for anyone out praying to have the Pregnancy Resource Flyer handout on hand (they are on our web site page under the Resources link on the righthand side) to be able to give to anyone in need. https://www.40daysforlife.com/en/champaign

REMINDER -- Annual Pro-Life Prayer Vigil takes place this Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7 pm.

COMMUNITY ECUMENICAL MEMORIAL PRO-LIFE PRAYER VIGIL

WHEN: Thursday, January 22 at 7 pm

WHERE: Savoy United Methodist Church, 3002 West Old Church Road, Champaign

WHAT: This annual prayer vigil honors all the lives lost to and affected by abortion. This multi-faith collaboration includes scripture readings, music/singing, a rose and candle procession, testimony, and fellowship. This year’s speaker is Micaella Clay, an abortion survivor, former foster child, adoptee, and adoption advocate. In addition to having survived an attempt to abort her, Micaella also chose to place her own child for adoption many years ago at a time when she felt she couldn’t be a parent. This year’s theme is Choosing Life, Choosing Hope. All are welcome.
