The Illinois University Incubator Network (IUIN) supports the advancement of entrepreneurship through linking university incubators to resource sharing, technical assistance, and the collection of best practices. Illinois University Incubator Network (IUIN) is a dynamic network connecting higher education incubators, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem across Illinois. The

IUIN provides incubator assistance, sharing of resources, collection of best practices, ambassador visits, direct small business assistance services, and referral of clients to the I-Corps program for training. IUIN member universities collaborate to organize events that showcase Illinois higher education incubator startups for investor and alumni participants. The IUIN also provides communication support for the University of Illinois EDA University Center. The EDA University Center exists to promote and foster entrepreneurship in downstate Illinois (south of I-80). The program’s mission is to create a growing pipeline of long-term innovative and vibrant business activity within the region through entrepreneur education, startup and small business assistance, and incubation growth and support. The Illinois University Incubator Network (IUIN) and the University of Illinois EDA University Center are led by EnterpriseWorks at the University of Illinois Research Park. Funding support for IUIN outreach & resources and University Center programs is provided by grants from the U.S.

The Illinois FAST Center is offering a FREE NSF SBIR/STTR Training series of proposal development workshops beginning on January 25, 2024. The training series includes 4 weekly, virtual workshops* that meet from Noon to 1:30 PM/CT. The Sprint offers a full-program option and an audit-only program option. The full program is open to IL-based teams, offers 1:1 mentoring provided by professional SBIR consultants, requires deadline-driven proposal development tasks, and is limited to a small number of teams. The audit-only program is open to teams in any state, does not provide 1:1 mentoring, and does not require submission of development tasks. During this session, Shelley Maves will be talking about the process to apply for NSF SBIR/STTR funding, starting with how to prepare a strong NSF Project Pitch. The presentation will include insight into what should be included in each of the four sections of the Project Pitch as well as a brief overview of the NSF SBIR/STTR program and requirements.
