Good afternoon Det. 190 Alumni!

We recently began a new section during lead lab we've titled "Leadership Applied." For this new portion, we send out a questionnaire with five cadet generated questions ranging from life as an officer to an enlisted perspective on what makes a quality leader. After receiving the answers to the "Leadership Applied" questionnaire and a brief bio, we will present one response a week. If you are interested in participating by responding to a questionnaire please send us a private message and we will get back to as soon as possible!

Among us, there walk heroes. Seldom do we ever know that they are there, and seldom do we grasp that the freedom we so fortunately carry with us has been permitted by their sacrifices, but tonight we came together to recognize those heroes. We came together to give thanks.

From all members of Detachment 190 here at the University of Illinois to all of the Veterans, POWs, and those MIA of our past, present, and future - Thank You. We salute you.

Tonight, during our Wing Leadership Laboratory, multiple cadets were awarded for their hard work throughout this semester. Cadets continue to distinguish themselves by going above and beyond just being a college student and a military cadet.

Congratulations everyone!

Well, we got the call this weekend.

Congratulations to Cadet Omar Haney for receiving an ENJJPT (Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training) slot during the recent pilot board!
Of the 500 AFROTC cadets who were selected as pilots for Fiscal Year '18, only the top 50 received ENJJPT slots.

ENJJPT, commonly regarded as the fighter aircraft/bomber aircraft track, "is conducted by the 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. [It] is the world's only multi-nationally manned and managed flying training program chartered to produce combat pilots for NATO (Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program)."

Attaway, Cadet Haney. Keep making Det 190 proud!

For more information about the ENJJPT program, take a look at their page or the following af.mil article:

This last weekend the Western Illinois University Leatherneck Army Battalion hosted an event that allowed cadets to earn the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency. The 3-day event is comprised of the German Bundeswehr's Basic Fitness Test (BFT), a timed swim in military uniform, a pistol shooting series, and a weighted ruck.

Of the 105 cadets, enlisted, and officers who competed in the event, only 4 were from the Air Force, all of which call Det 190 home.

Congratulations to Captain Jasper Simmons, Cadet Jake Williams, Cadet Chloe Valtos and Cadet Omar Haney for all receiving Gold badges (the highest badge awarded at the event).

Also, a special congratulations to Cadet Omar Haney who took 1st in both scored events. He received the highest overall male BFT Score and had the fastest ruck time of all competitors: 1:02:17 for 12km with 42.5 lbs.
