We’re excited to share our newest Volunteer Favorite submission, Scott, and his current favorite, Red!

Red has been with CCHS for 148 days and is currently our longest-term feline resident on the adoption floor.

Here is what Scott has to say about his buddy Red:

"Red is a laid-back and soulful ex-tomcat. He makes eye contact with his half-closed eyes and will knead your shoulder or arm, whatever is convenient, with his enormous brown-tabby paws. Red is always happy to see me and will joyfully hop down from a nap in one of his perches, stretch out, and greet me with an extensive vocabulary of meows, trills, and chirps."

Thank you, Scott, for sharing what makes Red so special, and for spending so much time with him!

Brooke, one of our incredible Dog Walking and Doggie Day Out volunteers, has chosen #1 good boy Zeus as her Volunteer Favorite. Here is what she has to say about this handsome guy:

"If I could give Zeus an award, I would certify him as an Official Very Good Boy! I've taken him on two Doggy Day Out trips outside the shelter, where he has been an excellent walking companion. He's been great at staying near me, remaining calm and focused when others are on the trails, and is so happy and friendly. Plus, look how cute he is! Come meet this enthusiastic, wiggly boy!"

Thank you, Brooke, for spending time with Zeus not only at the shelter but also at nearby parks to give him a much-needed break from the shelter environment. Volunteers like you make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many animals at CCHS!

If you are a CCHS volunteer with a Volunteer Favorite animal, please don't be shy! We would love to hear all about why they’ve stolen your heart and what makes them so special. ❤🐶🐱🐰

For your enjoyment, I present a Doggie Day Out highlight reel! 🐾

Thank you so much to all of the volunteers who have been taking dogs out to nearby parks. It really gives them a break from the stress of the shelter environment and helps meet their needs while they are here at CCHS.

We really appreciate everything you do for the dogs; thank you for making such a huge difference in their lives! ❤🐶

** UPDATE ** Hunter has been found and is safe with his owners! 🥳 Thank you, everyone, for all your help! ❤

🚨Urgent, we need your help‼️

Everyone, meet one of our incredible cat volunteers, Val, and her volunteer favorite cat, Little Bitty!

Little Bitty can often be found lounging on Val’s shoulder, possibly drooling, and soaking up all the love and attention. Here is what Val has to say about this cuddly cat:

"Looking for the perfect cutie to match any outfit? Lil’ Bitty is ready to take her place on your shoulder! Every time I stop by to say hello, she eagerly hops into my arms and showers me with affectionate head bunts and little kisses. When she’s not soaking up snuggles, Lil’ Bitty is perfectly content napping nearby or quietly keeping you company as you go about your day. If you’re looking for a truly loving, affectionate companion, come meet Lil’ Bitty. This sweet, beautiful girl is ready to find her forever-cuddle buddy!"

Thank you, Val, for spending so much time with Little Bitty (and with the other cats at CCHS), and for the time and dedication you give to the shelter. We are so grateful for volunteers like you, and all of our volunteers who make such a difference every single day!

Happy Friday, everyone! To kick off the weekend, we’re excited to share the volunteer favorite cat of one of our awesome cat volunteers, Beth!

Beth has chosen Shakira as her volunteer favorite cat and has spent lots of time with her in her communal room, playing, petting, grooming, and even teaching her how to use an exercise wheel! Shakira has been with CCHS for 114 days, including time spent with one of our wonderful foster providers while she was getting ready to move up for adoption.

Here is what Beth has to say about this stunning girl:

"I love that Shakira is so often right at her door when I arrive at the shelter, eagerly waiting for someone to come in and play with her. This beautiful girl has retained a healthy dose of playful kitten energy; she loves her wand toys, and has recently started to enjoy using her cat-sized hamster wheel just for kicks. She enjoys sitting on my shoulder looking out the window, although she hasn’t (yet) discovered the allure of lap-sitting, and always has lots of affectionate head butts for me. She is such a sweet and happy little cat!"

We always love hearing what our volunteers have to say about the animals they spend time with. Thank you so much for everything you do, Beth, and to all of our incredible volunteers who make a difference in the lives of the animals at CCHS!

Since the notorious Puddin has gone home (yay!), Scott has chosen his next volunteer favorite cat, Diego! Diego has been at CCHS for 148 days, so needless to say, Scott has had plenty of time to get to know her. Here’s what he has to say about Diego:

“I have known Diego since last fall, and her progress during her time at our shelter is moving and heartwarming. When I first met this beautiful feline, she cowered in a corner of her kennel, pupils dilated, afraid to come out and meet me. Over time she grew more confident, coming out to me and accepting a scratch on the head or chin. Eventually she let me pick her up, carry her around, and then take her to a get-acquainted room, where I reassured her with treats, brushing, and lots of petting. She has grown into a trusting and confident girl who greets everyone who walks by her cage. Now when we go to a get-acquainted room, she confidently climbs onto my lap, curls up, and dozes. This lovely girl is ready to go to a forever home.”

A big thank you to Scott for spending so much time with Diego and helping her build confidence along the way! This kind of care makes such a difference for our animals.

If you have a favorite shelter animal you would like to highlight, we would love to hear about them. Be sure to submit your volunteer favorites so we can share more stories like this!
