As you probably know we’re big fans of around here. Hands down one of the biggest reasons for that is his Christmas album Behold the Lamb of God. Before we know it we find ourselves it in the midst of the Christmas season, which just seems to keep getting busier every year. Our family or cultural holiday traditions hold many, many good things but we love how BTLOG has become one of the Advent traditions that remind us of the greatest thing — God with us. . . Even though we’re not hosting BTLOG in Champaign this year, we still want to shout from the rooftops about the 20th anniversary album and upcoming tour! Preorder the album and check out a tour date near you! Ryman tickets go on sale tomorrow (7/19) at 10am. . . with ・・・ Glad tidings! I’m so thrilled to announce not one, but TWO announcing announcements related to BTLOG. First, we all went into the studio a few months back and recorded a brand new version of the record mostly in one glorious day. We did this because there are several million people in the world who have never heard the old one, and this was as good a time as any to breathe some new life into it, try and capture what we’ve been doing live for years, and to invite some new friends along for the ride. Second, we’re pulling out all the stops for the 20th Anniversary tour this year, including welcoming our friend as the special guest on the tour. We’re going from one to two tour buses, which means we can bring more friends and the show will be more like the Ryman show than ever. And now, the best news of all: The record comes out October 25th, but you can preorder it AND get your tickets for the Ryman Auditorium shows this Friday, July 19th at 10am central time. Also, the full list of shows is now up on the website and on Facebook. I’m so very thankful to have gotten to tell this true tall tale about Jesus for these two decades. Thanks for supporting us all these years.

Great listen on The Redemptive Edge Podcast. Andy Crouch referring to Jessica Honeggar’s book “Imperfect Courage: live a life of purpose by leaving comfort and going scared.” . . “I actually think that subtitle sums up a crucial part of what it means for people of privilege to be part of restoring the narrative of image-bearing for everyone. Because when we leave our comfort and we go scared, we join the world of our neighbors, who OFTEN are not comfortable and OFTEN are scared. And somehow in that shared humanity when the bo***ge of both comfort and fear is broken by love, we find connection and courage.”

“Just days ago the sky was stone The trees were standing stripped to the bone You could hear creation groan But I write these words on an April day And the earth is drinking the early rain The hills remember green again And we've heard this story all our lives Still, we feel the pain of the crucified And the end still comes as a surprise But before the breath there in the tomb Before our joy sprang from the womb You saw a day that's coming soon When the Son will stand on the mount again With an army of angels at His command And the earth will split like the hull of a seed Wherever Jesus plants His feet And up from the earth, the dead will rise Like spring trees robed in petals of white Singing the song of the radiant bride And we will always be, always be, always be with the Lord” Lyrics: . . .
