Earlier in the month, I was honored to award four scholarships to incredible newly graduated students of Hillsboro High School!

This year, in addition to the development of our Family Nonprofit Foundation to house and support our museum in works, I was pleased to create under its umbrella a scholarship program to support local youth. I was so fortunate to receive immense support from my community when I went off to college and ever since graduating from UIUC in 2020 I wanted to find a way to pay that investment forward.

We interviewed several amazing candidates and even though initially we had planned to start with a single scholarship we decided to expand to two for our inaugural year.

We were proud to award the scholarships to Ian Anderson and Hanna Hughes as an investment in their collegiate pursuits and strong will to support their community.

I was also pleased to award the Service to Mankind Scholarship (SERTOMA) as their President this year! Our scholarship is awarded yearly to exceptional students who have demonstrated dedication to service in their community throughout high school and commitment to being a future steward of the community. We were proud as a group to award scholarships this year to Jesse Balla and Chloe Martincic!

Congratulations!🎉

Never allow yourself to get distracted from your goals, pulled down by those that want to see you fail or lose touch with the roots and the service to others that drove you to succeed in the first place.
Although I am a bit tardy on the National FFA week posts, I reflect five years later on winning the National Proficiency Entrepreneurship Award for Diversified Ag. Production. I mark it as a pinnacle in my larger experience that included many late nights at contests, mentoring and advising students, chapter/section/state offices, two state proficiency awards, my state and American FFA degrees and the American Star Farmer designation—among others.
It was the background experiences leading to this award that first taught me the value of persistence, hard work and true pride being a member of an industry dedicated to serving others. Business and politics both too were passions of mine from an early age. I knew with my life I wanted to make a positive difference. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my true friends, family, community and mentors that supported and invested in me—as well as, and especially those, who have actively worked to undermine those efforts.
Looking back now, having almost graduated college, and moving into the next chapter in my life, I am equally thankful for these good and exceedingly malignant influences, experiences and people. They have reshaped my mindset, ignited a new spark of zeal, and instilled a renewed hope that just as in the our creed—the promise of better days is still to come with God’s blessing and this farmer’s will to tread on. @ National FFA Organization

One of the coolest internship experiences I have had was interning in the National Economic Council of the White House last fall working on Agricultural and Financial Policy issues.

Where all have you interned/hope to intern?

What has been your favorite/taught you the most?

Hi FFA Snapchatters! This page has been inactive for some time now. As many of us have now graduated from our FFA careers, I was hoping to transition this more into a collaborative and inspiration-based page that everyone can contribute to and interact with. I will endeavor to post quotes, blogs, podcasts, memes and others to help give positive vibes for your day.

As a third-generation farmer, I was very involved in Illinois FFA and many of the lessons I learned there have helped me to grow my business, travel to learn about international, urban and US agriculture and serve others through philanthropic and leadership positions.

I would love to hear from you about all the awesome things you have done since FFA or currently if you are student! Potentially things like school/work lessons learned from FFA, what we are doing now, how we are giving back etc.

It was a foundational time in my life and I know in all of yours. While many of us have hung up our jackets for the last time, our experience and the lessons learned are something we can cherish forever.
