Are we willing to stand as these two young women did? What price are we willing to pay to honor Christ?

FAITHFUL WITNESSES — PERPETUA AND FELICITY

Perpetua was a young noblewoman. Felicity was an enslaved woman. Rome saw two women of very different social standing. Christ had made them sisters.

Perpetua’s father begged her to deny Christ. He loved his daughter and could not bear to lose her. She grieved for him, but she would not renounce the Lord she had come to love.

Felicity carried her own terrible cost. She was imprisoned while pregnant and gave birth only days before the ex*****on. Yet she too chose faithfulness to Christ, knowing exactly what that faithfulness could cost her.

When the day came, the ancient account remembers the condemned believers entering the amphitheater with remarkable composure and sharing the kiss of peace before death. Noblewoman and slave stood together on the same ground before Christ.

Then, when a young and inexperienced ex*****oner hesitated, Perpetua calmly guided his wavering hand to her throat. Her allegiance had already been settled long before the sword arrived.

Their story is not ultimately about death. It is about the worth of Jesus Christ.

The world gave one status and the other bo***ge. Christ gave both of them a new identity, a new family, and a hope stronger than death.

Different lives, yet one Lord, and a shared faithful witness.

I wanted to take the time to explain our heart concerning the new Facebook ministry page we have have established under the Risen Scepter banner.

The image and attached captions hopefully will give you an idea of what we are trying to accomplish. to accomplish.

Where my bishop Gary Earls page and my Risen Scepter Ministries pages have their own functions, Bible and Culture in Focus is the new short form teaching hub for Risen Scepter Ministries.

I pray that it becomes a valuable place for you to visit and grow in your faith.

The Lord has given several content streams that we are using on the page in various ways. All centralizing on one specific question, "How do we live eternally in a temporary culture?"

As we face the challenges in our lives concerning this question, I truly hope that the BCIF page will become a valuable resource to you.

Bible & Culture in Focus exists to help believers think deeply, live faithfully, and engage culture through the lens of Scripture. The content may take different forms, but the goal is the same: to help God’s people understand His Word, recognize what is happening around them, and live faithfully under the reign of Christ.

So here's a question. When we have a law, does that mean that the ultimate result is that culture is infused with morality because the law is on the books? Redemption is a love story.

The story of Ruth and Boaz is more than a beautiful ending to a hard season. It is a picture of how God steps into brokenness, loss, uncertainty, and need—and writes a future that His people could never create for themselves.

Ruth came with emptiness, vulnerability, and no guarantee of what would come next. Boaz stepped into the story as a kinsman-redeemer, willing to act with integrity, compassion, and covenant faithfulness. What looked like an ordinary field became the place where redemption entered the story.

That is how God works. He does not merely rescue from a distance. He enters the need, takes responsibility, covers the vulnerable, and provides what could not be secured otherwise.

In Boaz, we see a shadow of Christ. In Ruth, we see the needy one brought near. In their story, we are reminded that redemption is never cold or mechanical. It is personal, costly, faithful, and full of mercy.

And in the hands of God, redemption does more than solve a problem. It brings people into a future filled with hope,
belonging, and purpose.

Ruth’s story begins with loss, uncertainty, and a choice.

Naomi urged Ruth to return to Moab, where she still had the possibility of rebuilding her life among her own people and culture. Ruth was still a young widow.

Remaining in Moab would have offered the more familiar path and, humanly speaking, the greater likelihood of security.

But Ruth chose something else.

“Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” — Ruth 1:16

There was no promise attached to that decision. Ruth did not know Boaz was ahead. She could not see Obed, Jesse, David, or the line that would ultimately lead to Christ.

She simply chose faithfulness.
That is what makes her story such a powerful picture of true faith. Faith is not merely trusting God when the outcome is visible. Faith is choosing allegiance to God when the road ahead is uncertain and obedience may cost something.

Ruth left the future she understood and placed herself within the people of God.
Only later would she discover how deeply her faithfulness had become woven into the story of redemption.

True faith is faithful before it can see the outcome.

The world does not always ask you to stop believing. Sometimes it asks you to bow.

In Babylon, everyone was commanded to fall before the image when the music played. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego understood that the issue was larger than public conformity. It was allegiance.

They knew God was able to deliver them from the furnace. But their faithfulness did not depend on deliverance. Even if He did not, they would not bow.

That same question still confronts the people of God: Who receives our allegiance when obedience becomes costly?

Our struggle is not ultimately against flesh and blood. Behind the kingdoms, idols, pressures, and deceptions of this age stands a deeper conflict. Yet the powers do not have the final word.

Jesus Christ is King.

Until the day when every rebellious power is judged and all things are brought under His reign, the Church is called to stand faithful in the middle of the pressure.

Our God is able. But even if He does not deliver us in the way we expect, we still will not bow.

Dan. 3:16–18; Eph. 6:12

The early Church knew what it meant to follow Christ when faithfulness came at a cost.

Polycarp had served Christ for eighty-six years. When pressured to deny Him, he refused.

Why?

Because Jesus Christ is worthy.

When I don't understand, when things don't make sense I remind myself of this...

He is who He says He is in His word!

He is completely just.

He is completely gracious.

He is completely compassionate.

He is completely loving.

He never leaves us even when we feel like giving up; even when we sit down cross our arms, pout, and refuse to move.

He just lovingly reaches out His hand, lifts us up, and says, “Follow Me”.
