Prairielands Council Scouting

Prairielands Council is responsible for two districts, Prairie Fire and Many Trails. And we do it by having fun! The council is based in Champaign, Illinois.

Located in Champaign, IL, the council is made up of nine counties in East Central Illinois and Western Indiana Prairielands Council, BSA provides character development and value-based leadership training to youth in nine counties of east-central Illinois and west-central Indiana. We currently offer over 2,800 youth a program of responsible fun and adventure:

Training them in citizenship, service

, and leadership;
Instilling lifetime values;
Developing ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. It is our mission to serve our communities and families with a quality, values-based program.

Last night at the City of Champaign - Municipal Government City Council Meeting Eagle Scout Abigail C was presented a proclamation from Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen for achieving the Eagle Scout Rank.

Abigail earned her Eagle rank earlier this year, but was presented this from the city as a congratulatory recognition for earning the high honor.

There have been some issues when our leaders and youth log into their my.scouting.org account to take the new Safeguarding Youth Training.

When originally logging in, everyone was sent to take the Safeguarding Youth Refresher Course, when they needed to take the 90 minute Safeguarding Youth Course. That has been fixed! Sorry to everyone who found that out the hard way!

Please continue to take the online training and keep our youth safe! We appreciate your support in making this happen!

Summer Office Hours!

Monday's during the months of June and July the Lee Service Center and Robeson Scout Shop will be closed. The list of dates affected are June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, and July 27. This helps us to keep costs down for the summer and allow us to put more dollars back into our Scouting program. If you should need assistance on these days you can reach out to the Scout Executive or your District Executive on their cell phones.

Day Camp will be here next weekend! We have received a lot of registrations this week! We are grateful for them! Our Camp Staff has put together a fun and exciting camp!

The Dino-Mite Dinosaur Day Camp Program for anyone who wants to join in the fun! It will be held on June 6, 2026 at Camp Drake. The event will start at 9AM and end by 3PM on that Saturday. Check in will start at 7:30AM. This is the only Day Camp offered this year, so don't miss out on all things Dinosaurs! Youth Day Camp Fee is $70, $10 for Adult Meal Ticket if so desired

Scouts and Leaders can register online on Tentaroo or come into the Prairielands Council Office.

Last night's Pintwood Derby Event at Triptych Brewing was a great time! Fun was had by all racing those 5 ounce cars that were built. This event is a fun and exciting one and if you missed it, make time to attend next year.

This year's winners were Graham Anthony - 1st Place, Julie Baker - 2nd Place, and Mark Thies(Eric Meyer stand In) -3rd place.

We at Prairielands Council remember and honor this day where brave men and women gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country!

Our offices are closed today and will reopen tomorrow at 9AM.

Congratulations to Prairielands Council's newest Eagle Scout Andrew M! Andrew is a Scout in Troop 101 that meets at Savoy United Methodist Church. Andrew's favorite Scouting event was canoeing through the Boundary Waters at Northern Tier High Adventure Base.

Congratulations to Prairielands Council newest Eagle Scout Austin B. Austin is a Scout in Troop 490 chartered to the Monticello Lions Club.

Austin's project was building a new nature trail at the 4H Camp at Allerton. This trail is in memory of Andrew Beals, a Scout and Friend who tragically lost his life last year

Austin is pictured below with his proud parents Elaine and Sean. Congratulations Austin, we look forward to your future success and how you will make this world better!
