Some of the groups participating in HCC might find tabling at the winter Champaign-Urbana Farmers Markets an excellent opportunity to interact with community members and to spread the word about good things happening in Champaign County to assure our neighbors have access to nutritional foods and opportunities to become physically active through the winter months!

💵 $1.8 MILLION is coming for Illinois’ local food infrastructure!

Are you a farmer, food business, food hub, or organization looking to expand your ability to process, store, or distribute locally grown food? The 2027 Local Food Infrastructure Grant (LFIG) could help make your next project possible!

💰 Collaborative grants: up to $250,000
🚜 Individual grants: up to $75,000
📅 Applications open November 2, with a deadline of January 6, 2027.

But don’t wait to get started! Required registrations can take 2–4 weeks, so now is the time to prepare.

Family Service's Champaign location has been undergoing much-needed renovations for many months. Now, as we tie up loose ends, we're looking forward to showing the community the space we've recreated for our community's older adults and the professionals who serve them.

We've been in operation since 1911, and we're proud of the work we've done in our 115+ years of operation. We have a healthy archive of historical nuggets that show just how much good has been done and how far we've come, not just as an organization, but as a community.

Seeing the refreshed space, our "mini-museum" of our history, and getting up to speed on our work will change the way you think about how our community members support and uphold each other.

Our open house is Thursday, November 5th, from 1pm to 4pm. Please stop by, walk through, ask questions, check out the displays, and enjoy some light refreshments. We can't wait to meet you (or see you again) and show you around.

The more people who know about the support our older neighbors receive through Family Service, the stronger our community is.

We're working to make east-central Illinois one of the best places in the nation to get older, and we want you to be a part of it.

We think 115 years looks good on us, especially after our latest facelift, and we think once you see the new Family Service, you'll agree.
