Image: Feeling Sunset by Suzi Gough is a richly layered exploration of texture, color, and fabric manipulation. Constructed from a wide variety of fabrics, thread, cardboard tubes from yarn cops, glue, and wood lath for backing, the piece combines stacked, sewn, and cut fabric layers to create depth and dimension. Each stack contains six layers of carefully chosen fabrics, inspired by techniques from Layered Cloth: The Art of Fabric Manipulation by Ann Small.

Join artist Anne Murray for Paper & Fabric Marbling, a two-day workshop exploring the magic of floating pigments, creating swirling designs, and transferring them onto paper, cotton, and silk. Through hands-on practice, you'll experiment with color, pattern, and surface design while creating one-of-a-kind pieces.

Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, this class offers plenty of room to play, explore, and be surprised by the beautiful effects marbling can create. You'll leave with a collection of marbled papers, a finished fabric piece, and the skills to continue experimenting at home.

📣 Calling all student fiber artists!

Applications are now open for Spotlight on Student Fiber Trends, a juried exhibition celebrating the next generation of fiber artists across the Southeast. Open exclusively to postsecondary students living in the region, this exhibition is an opportunity to showcase your work at the SEFAA Center, connect with the broader fiber arts community, and compete for generous cash prizes.

Created to honor and encourage emerging artists, Spotlight on Student Fiber Trends highlights innovative work across a wide range of materials, techniques, and concepts, united by creativity, originality, and passion. Previous exhibitions have been hosted in Greenville, NC; Athens, GA; Murray, KY; and Greenville, SC.

Join this fun, free exhibition celebrating small-format fiber art ✨ Open to all ages, skill levels, and textile techniques—everyone is encouraged to participate!

Create a piece 12" x 12" (or smaller) using at least one textile technique. This year’s optional theme: Monochrome 🎨
