A few weeks ago, our facilitators participated in a training on Trauma-Informed Care led by Annie from Ember Counseling. Volunteers attended in person or via zoom.

During the training, they discussed the importance of creating a safe, trustworthy, and empowering environment where parents are given personal choices and space to grieve in ways that are right for them.

They reviewed and expanded on helpful, encouraging things to say to someone who is grieving or working through trauma, explored how we can best support parents no matter what their story looks like, and discussed ways to encourage and support parents in meeting their basic needs while navigating deep grief and trauma.

Our volunteers also had the opportunity to connect with a variety of resources for individuals, couples, and families whose needs may extend beyond the scope of support Sweet Grace Ministries provides.

We are incredibly grateful to Annie! Thank you for offering this training to our volunteers, for your patience as we worked to get it scheduled, and most of all, for your heart and desire to equip our team with the knowledge, tools, and resources to better love and support the families in their care.
