This Saturday, our cadet’s completed their annual personnel inspection. Once a year, our unit goes through an inspection to ensure that we are in compliance with rules and regulations established at the headquarters level.

On Sunday we had a guest speaker. LT Sean Killian, USCG explained how and why the US military uses wargaming to test out concepts at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. Afterwards, the day was spent wargaming through games such as FITNA, Cruel Seas, Sonar, and Littoral Combat.

Today’s Sea Cadet drill focused on core maritime skills. Cadets practiced essential knots—including the square knot, bowline, sheet bend, clove hitch, figure eight, and cleat hitch—while learning when each knot is used, under the instruction of a US Coast Guard licensed Merchant Mariner. Cadets also practiced drill and ceremonies and reviewed proper customs and courtesies.

If this type of hands-on training and leadership development interests you, join us tomorrow at the Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Prospective cadets and families are welcome.

👏 👏 Bravo Zulu Cadets 👏 👏

Both Cadets attended Navy League Orientation (NLO), but in different capacities. Cadet DeCarlo successfully completed his first Sea Cadet training, laying the foundation for an exciting Sea Cadet career. Meanwhile, Petty Officer Cummings completed his first staffing assignment, continuing to strengthen his leadership skills.

These Cadets gained invaluable knowledge and experience along with lifelong memories, while enjoying the beautiful South Carolina sunshine. They were all smiles this afternoon at graduation, happy to have this training under their belts.

Thank you to the wonderful NLO Training Staff who volunteered their time to give these Cadets such an amazing experience!

Job well done, Cadets!!
