Call to action - PA Housing Choices Coalition needs your help!
We need you to reach out to your representatives to support both HB 2186 (accessory dwelling units or ADUs) and HB 2109 ("The Golden Girls Law" or occupancy reform).

Both HB 2186 and HB 2109 are scheduled for a floor vote in the House during the first 3 days of June.

By enabling small-scale homes like ADUs and modernizing outdated occupancy limits, the legislature can take meaningful action to address Pennsylvania’s housing shortage.

These bills offer practical, bipartisan solutions to expand housing options, ease cost burdens, and allow more people to live in communities of their choosing.

The Franklin County Commissioners are encouraging residents and community stakeholders to share their thoughts on the county’s future as Franklin County begins Phase 2 of its 10-year comprehensive plan.

Community members can complete a short online survey at https://buff.ly/QQKgkxw to provide input on transportation, housing, farmland preservation and other land use priorities.

Public feedback will help shape priorities and next steps for Imagine Franklin 2035. Please encourage your friends, neighbors, family and coworkers to participate!

You CAN participate in moving the needle on the housing crisis - contact your House members TODAY and ask for their support to move HB 2186 (ADUs) and 2019 (Golden Girls Law) this session!

HB 2186 (accessory dwelling units or ADUs) and HB 2109 ("The Golden Girls Law" are scheduled to receive a second and final consideration vote in the House on Wednesday, May 6.

These bills offer practical, bipartisan solutions to expand housing options, ease cost burdens, and allow more people to live in communities of their choosing.

By enabling small-scale homes like ADUs and modernizing outdated occupancy limits, the legislature can take meaningful action to address Pennsylvania’s housing shortage.

HB 2186, which will allow accessory dwelling units statewide, and HB 2109, which will remove unnecessary limits on whether unrelated people can live in the same house, will have second and third consideration on the House floor on Wednesday, May 6th.

We are thrilled to launch in Franklin in June 2026! We are looking to build meaningful relationships across community members, business owners, elected officials and staff, nonprofit organizations, so that we can work together to advocate for and create more attainable housing. Attainable housing means renting/buying a house is within the means of people WORKING median income wages in Franklin County.

Coalitions are people powered and require many voices, perspectives, and lived experiences at the table. Join us!
