Central Penn RGS Chapter

Yesterday the Central Penn chapter of RGS teamed up with DCNR and FirstEnergy to plant 200+ trees and fence/cage where needed to limit deer damage and allow the trees to help establish grouse and woodcock habitat on the Michaux State Forest. This was just one step in ongoing habitat improvement projects happening in Michaux. This area has previously been timbered and burned in order to help create the young growth habitat that grouse, woodcock, and other wildlife species rely on for food and cover.

A few days earlier we held our annual chapter banquet which will help fund projects like these in the future. So if you aren’t already a member, please consider joining RGS!

Just a reminder about our habitat day in the Michaux State Forest coming up on Wednesday April 15. More information, as well as an email to RSVP, are available here:

Volunteers from First Energy, Central Pennsylvania Chapter of RGS, and staff members of the Michaux State Forest will plant approximately 200 1-3 gal. shrubs and 200 seedlings. Bring a shovel, wear good boots, and gloves if desired.

The Central Penn RGS Chapter is looking for volunteers to help plant approximately 400 trees and install fencing in the Michaux State Forest on April 15th at 9:00 AM. We will share an exact meeting location in the coming days. Please reach out to this page if you are interested in joining us!

We will be raffling off a Browning Sweet 16 at our annual conservation banquet on April 11th. You do NOT need to be present to win. Tickets are $10 or 3 for $25 and they are limited to 400 chances. Send me a message if you would like to purchase tickets and I will respond with the required info as well as proof the tickets are filled out correctly!
