Scholarship Opportunity for Rising College Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors who live in Franklin County!

If you have graduated high school or are a current college student and wish to advance your education within a field with an environmental concentration, then this scholarship may be for you!

Fields of study include, but are not necessarily limited to: Agriculture, Agri-Business, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Fisheries, Forestry, Geo-Environmental Studies, Land Use Planning, Conservation of Natural Resources, Surveying, Wildlife Conservation, and Environmental Biology.

Deadline to apply is Friday, June 12th.

Congratulations to James Buchanan High School’s (JBHS) Forces of Nature; who were awarded first place with the highest score of 325 points at the Franklin County Conservation District’s annual Envirothon competition on April 16th at Cowans Gap State Park. JBHS’s winning team will be heading to the Pennsylvania State Envirothon Competition to represent Franklin County, on May 20th in Mifflinburg, PA. The district has an opening for an Erosion & Sediment Control Technician.

This person will be responsible for providing technical assistance to surveyors, engineers, plan writers, developers, and contractors while administering PA’s Erosion & Sediment Control Program in Franklin County.

Applicant must have a good working knowledge of soils, nutrients, hydrology, land use and geography.
