The Oacoma, Chamberlain, Pukwana (OCP) Community Foundation is excited to announce the recipients of its first round of community grants.
The amount awarded was determined by the balance of the endowed fund as of January 1, 2025. OCP Chair Sheena Larsen said, “The first year OCP had $2,400 to allocate to our communities.” She added, “Based on our bylaws, we were formed to help nonprofit entities with projects that will be long-lasting for the community.”
Grant awards were announced Saturday, March 7, during the foundation’s second annual Virtual Horse Races fundraising event.
Children’s Ark, a nonprofit childcare facility, received $600 to assist with an upcoming remodeling project. The OCP board presented the check to Children’s Ark board members who were present at the event. The OCP Community Foundation has seen significant growth in the past year. The fund increased by $80,000, which will allow for larger grant awards in future cycles. “After Saturday night’s event, we are close to $160,000 in our fund,” Larsen said. “We need to raise $40,000 more this year to reach our goal and receive $50,000 from the South Dakota Community Foundation.” The OCP Community Foundation was established to support projects that create lasting benefits for the Oacoma, Chamberlain, and Pukwana communities. Congratulations to this year’s grant recipients.
