Meet a Legend from the Legends & Learning Program, Dale Lamphere!

From a ranch kid to one of South Dakota’s most celebrated sculptors, Dale's work can be found across the country, including the iconic 50-foot Dignity - Of Earth & Sky - Sculpture overlooking the Missouri River and sculptures inside the National Shrine in Washington, D.C.

Inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 1987 and named Artist Laureate in 2015, Dale's art captures the heart of the Great Plains.

"That drive to get up every morning has carried me through 50 years of being an artist." — Dale Lamphere
