πŸŽ“ **St. Bernard Firefighters Local 1468 Scholarship Recipients Announced** πŸŽ“

Today, we are proud to announce the 2025 St. Bernard Firefighters Local 1468 Scholarship recipients:

πŸ† **Lindsey Ludwig**
πŸ† **Emma Huerstel**

These outstanding students were selected based on their exemplary moral character, dedication to their education, and academic achievement. Each recipient will receive a **$1,000 scholarship** to help further their educational goals.

Funded through the generous support of our community and the success of our annual fundraisers, this scholarship program has proudly assisted local students every year since its creation, with the exception of 2006 as our parish recovered from Hurricane Katrina.

Congratulations to Lindsey and Emma on this well-deserved recognition! We wish you both continued success in all your future endeavors.

We would also like to thank the citizens of St. Bernard Parish for their continued support, which makes this scholarship program possible year after year.

**Congratulations, Lindsey and Emma!** πŸŽ‰πŸŽ“πŸš’

Strong work by all involved !!

At approximately 11:30PM on May 28, 2026, St. Bernard Parish Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 700 block of Perrin Dr. in Arabi.

Initial units arrived on scene and reported smoke and flames visible coming from the residence. SBFD Crews worked quickly to bring the fire under control and extinguish it. There were no occupants inside the home at the time of the fire. One firefighter sustained minor injuries during firefighting operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Today, members of the St. Bernard Firefighters took on β€œThe Murph,” one of the most challenging and meaningful workouts in the fitness community. More than just a workout, The Murph is a tribute to Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a United States Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his courage and sacrifice.

The workout consists of:
β€’ 1 mile run
β€’ 100 pull-ups
β€’ 200 push-ups
β€’ 300 air squats
β€’ 1 mile run

Many participants also complete it while wearing a weighted vest to honor the gear carried by military members and first responders.

The Murph represents sacrifice, mental toughness, discipline, and perseverance β€” values that firefighters live by every day in service to their communities. Today’s event was not only about physical endurance, but also about remembering those who gave everything in the line of duty and pushing ourselves beyond our limits in their honor.

Great job to all the members who participated and represented St. Bernard with pride, strength, and dedication.

We want to take a moment and salute 2 of our members. Captain Devin Murphy and Firefighter Andrew Moise received the St. Bernard Kiwanis Sammie Catalanotto Life Saving Award. Captain Murphy and Firefighter Moise responded to a medical call where the patient went into cardiac arrest. Our crew sprang into action, assisting with CPR. The patient regained a pulse and was later released from the hospital. Job Well Done!!!
