Marsh Dawgs Day 2! Campers had an amazing time at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies. Some activities included a dolphin and sea lion show, several hands on experiences with marine life and bird feeding. The day ended with a stop at Buc-ee’s, a sunset walk to the pier, insect preservation, making homemade treats, and a delicious crawfish boil! Thank you to Venture Global for the support!

Marsh Dawgs Day 1! Campers from across St. Bernard and Plaquemines went to the UNO Coastal Education Research Facility where they went canoeing and participated in several hands on learning activities about water quality. Campers then went on a nature scavenger hunt and made seed bombs. The day ended with discussions about the commercial fishing and fur trapping industries.

Friday at the Spark, Action, Change Summit! 🍀

Our 4-H’ers had the incredible opportunity to step inside the Louisiana State Capitol and learn firsthand how a bill becomes a law. They didn’t just hear about it — they lived it. From drafting ideas to debating on the floor, they experienced the power and responsibility of civic engagement.

We then stepped back in time at the Old Louisiana State Capitol for a personal, interactive tour. Standing in a building filled with history while talking about leadership and change felt especially meaningful. Our members learned that their voices have a place in rooms where decisions are made.

Lastly, we did a campus tour of Louisiana State University! From visiting the Dairy Store and the College of Agriculture to seeing Mike the Tiger and touring Tiger Stadium — including the locker room and standing on the football field — our members got a glimpse of the opportunities that hard work and education can open for them.

Days like this are about more than tours and activities. They’re about planting seeds — of confidence, leadership, service, and vision. I am so proud of how our 4-H members represented our parish with maturity, curiosity, and heart. The future is bright, and it’s sitting in our 4-H meetings every month. 💚🍀
