***update: You can buy signed paperback copies of A Horse's Life: The Neuroscience of Equine Welfare directly through Mark Rashid and Crissi McDonald's official social channel on the Considering the Horse page! Please consider this direct way to purchase your book.

I just finished raptly reading A Horse's Life, the Neuroscience of Equine Welfare, by Dr.
Stephen Peters, Mark Rashid, and Crissi McDonald. And it may be my new favorite book on horse behavior. Dr. Peter's previous book, Evidenced-based Horsemanship, co-written with horseman Martin Black, is one of my favorites and one I recommend frequently to insatiable students of equine behavior. Like in this new book, Dr. Peter's provides invaluable insights to how the horse's brain works, how horses learn, and the origins of their various behaviors. He offers scientific explanations about the plasticity of the equine brain and impactful solutions for dealing with common behaviors that have plagued horse people for thousands of years. This newest book combines poignant anecdotes about individual horses, written with the charm we've come to expect from Mark and Crissi, followed up with Dr. Peter's clinical notes on each case-study. Every chapter features a unique horse and scenario, but for someone who has trained literally thousands of horses, I can tell you these horses and scenarios are more common than you think. BTW, this is an unsolicited and unpaid endorsement, because I am certain, if you are here on my site, you'll be fascinated with this book. I don't know where you can buy it (I received it as a gift from T Cody and it was purchased at the authors' book signing), but l'd encourage you to buy directly from the authors if you can. Enjoy the ride read!
