Today, we want to honor a neighbor, a friend, a volunteer, and a supporter.
Delbert Horman, you left this life doing what you loved—serving your Chaffee community.
Laurie will never forget her last conversation with Delbert. She asked if he might be willing to help with a young men’s club.
Delbert replied, “I’m not sure what I would have to offer them. All I know is a little bit of baseball.”
Oh, Delbert. ❤️ You had so much more to offer than you ever realized.
Yes, you loved baseball. ⚾️ But you also knew how to show up when someone needed a hand.
These pictures are from one of those moments. When we needed to pick up 200 filled backpacks to distribute to local kids, Delbert and his son, Dallon, jumped right in to help! Delbert later came back and customized the backpacks for each child’s school supply list.
He even offered to order additional supplies, but before he needed to, several generous Chaffee businesses stepped up and filled that need.
That is what it means to care for the people around you. And Delbert did that so well!
We are thankful his path crossed with ours here at Empower Life. Thank you for serving, for showing up, and for being our neighbor, our friend, and a part of our Empower Life family.
Your “little bit of baseball” was never all you had to offer. You had a heart for people—and that was worth so much more.
Delbert, Chaffee will miss you! ❤️
We are praying for your family, and especially for your grandsons, Diesel and Conaire, whom we love very much.
