Cerritos represented in the unlikeliest of places!

Little known fact: If you ever stumble into the famous Red Dog Saloon in the middle of Juneau, Alaska…you can actually find a patch of the seal of our beloved city on the wall next to Wyatt Earp’s revolver! (Which he left abruptly 126 years ago while on the lamb).

Very cool!

Love Baked In:

Have you seen this mural lately?!

The first and original Paris Baguette in the region features a beautiful mural inside their bakery that displays their love for the Cerritos community and their charitable commitments! The also mural features several Cerritos landmarks, such as the Cerritos Library, Heritage Park, and the Atkinson Andelson Loya Rudd & Romo building at the Cerritos Towne Center (whose dome is the largest piece of public art in Los Angeles County!).

Paris Baguette is located at the southeast corner of Artesia Boulevard and Carmenita Road next to Dollar Tree, and this particular location is their oldest and longest running location around!

With many specials and delicious sweet and savory pastries and sandwiches made daily, it’s the perfect spot to pick up an iced coffee and pastry to start your day.

We are very happy to see this civic pride on full display at one of our local businesses and wish them many years of success as they continue their growth and expansion around the world!

LongHorn is in it for the long run!:

The residents and visitors have asked for more steakhouse options and finally, we will be getting one: LongHorn Steakhouse will be opening a location at the Los Cerritos Center over the course of the next year!

Currently in the planning stages, LongHorn is planning to build a brand new 5,780 square foot building in the southern Macy's parking lot, facing out towards South Street.

Originally founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981, LongHorn Steakhouses have approximately 600 locations around the United States today, with the closest ones to Cerritos being in Rancho Cucamonga and in Northridge.

They are known for their "Legendary Steaks" category, which includes the Outlaw Ribeye and LongHorn Porterhouse, as well as their Chocolate Stampede dessert tower.

This is a major win for residents and visitors to Cerritos, as it ushers in the return of a much-needed steakhouse to the city and fulfills a wish that many residents have been asking for (i.e.: more higher-end restaurants, eateries and steakhouses...we're looking at you Ruth's Chris Steak House, Texas Roadhouse and Mastro's Steakhouse!).

The added jobs and positive economic impact to the South Street corridor cannot be stressed enough and aligns perfectly with the city's long term plans. Having a well-established steakhouse like LongHorn invest in the community will also bolster the city of Cerritos' overall sales tax base and further solidifies Cerritos as an ideal place to live, work, play, dine and do business.

I'll be seeing y'all round by the saloon in the coming months!

Get the in-cider scoop!:

Cider--the new Los Angeles-based fashion brand that recently opened its first-ever brick-and-mortar boutique at The Original Farmers Market in Fairfax--is preparing to open a second location at Los Cerritos Center in the coming months!

Founded in 2020 by a group of classmates collaborating over Zoom, Cider quickly grew from an online-only retailer into a global fashion brand known for its trend-driven styles and strong appeal among Gen Z shoppers. The company’s successful transition into physical retail has helped fuel its continued expansion, with Cerritos becoming the next stop on its growth journey.

The new store arrives at an exciting time for Los Cerritos Center, which is undergoing significant redevelopment and attracting a fresh mix of retailers, restaurants, and experiences. As more consumers, especially the emerging Gen Z demographic, seek the convenience and enjoyment of in-person shopping, brands like Cider are helping shape the next generation of retail destinations.

Cider’s expansion is also a positive sign for the local business community. As a Los Angeles-grown success story, the brand’s decision to invest in Cerritos reflects the city’s strong consumer base, diverse demographics, and strategic location. It’s another example of how the area continues to attract innovative and growing businesses with global appeal.

With Macerich committing to ongoing improvements and new and dynamic tenants over the next year, Los Cerritos Center is positioning itself as a vibrant destination for shoppers of all ages—and Cider’s arrival adds even more excitement to what’s ahead.

Cheers to that!

Good golly, Ms. Molly!

The emerging popular tea house, Molly Tea (茉莉奶白), will be opening a location at the Los Cerritos Center in the coming months!

Though a bit more prevalent in NorCal, this will be the franchise's second location in the Southland, with the first location already open in nearby Arcadia.

Founded in Shenzhen in 2021, Molly Tea is a "new Chinese-style" premium tea chain known for pioneering fresh jasmine-infused and floral-forward milk teas.

Unlike many traditional bubble tea shops that rely on powders, Molly Tea uses high-quality mountain teas and scents the leaves directly with fresh jasmine and other Eastern floral notes.

Starting with hundreds of stores in mainland China, the brand has expanded internationally into a global lifestyle franchise. It operates outposts across North America (including California, Texas, and New York), London, and Southeast Asia.

Their most popular items include the Premium Jasmine Milk Tea and the Snowy Jasmine (topped with jasmine-infused whipped cream and candied pecans).

The continued expansion of higher end shops and international eateries like Molly Tea continue to highlight the strong influence younger generations increasingly have in Cerritos and reinforces the city as a major economic hub for the entire SELACO region.

Moo-ving with the Herd:

Today was the first Cerritos 5k run/walk at the Don Knabe Regional Park, sponsored by the office of Supervisor Janice Hahn and the Port of Long Beach, honoring the city of Cerritos’ 70th anniversary. Many local vendors and businesses were also on site for a health fair after the event.

The attendance far exceeded initial estimates and so if you did not receive your medal, it will be mailed to you.

Seeing the overwhelming support for this 5k event, we are hoping that this will be an annual standing event sponsored by the city, perhaps with a few more enhancements next time. Ultimately, planning community building events such as the 5k run is one the primary goals of local government.

Mega thanks to the Cerritos Parks and Recreation committee and the city council and staff for hosting and planning such a wonderful and festive event!

Were you or your family in attendance? Sound off in the comments for your feedback!

Adding "a little bit" more to the mall:

Rapidly growing Asian beauty retailer Sukoshi has made plans to open at the Los Cerritos Center! (Sukoshi means "just a little bit" in Japanese).

Sukoshi is a Toronto-based beauty retailer that has evolved from a small lifestyle shop (originally known as Sukoshi Mart) into one of North America's premier destinations for Asian beauty products, namely K-beauty and J-beauty.

They have been colloquially called the “Sephora of K-Beauty” and have been backed by high-profile marketing campaigns, such as partnerships with K-pop stars. They aim to open 40 new retail locations across the US, targeting higher end indoor shopping centers.

With the relatively recent opening of Korheim at Los Cerritos Center, it will be interesting to see how it will play out between the two Asian beauty retailers at the mall, as they are direct competitors in the rapidly expanding American Asian beauty market.

Nonetheless, we believe being part of a rapidly growing brand’s strategy illustrates the confidence in the robust regional economics and demographics at play in the Greater Cerritos Area. More business in our shopping destinations also brings with it more jobs and adds to a growing and thriving retail ecosystem.
