On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Cerritos United Soccer Club lost a great man and a true leader, as Benjamin Prado passed away at age 67 in Lakewood, CA.

His truest passion in life came from giving back to his community through coaching youth soccer. As president of Cerritos United Soccer Club, he was known universally throughout soccer fields as “Coach Ben.” He was a strong role model to all youth, motivating his players to do their best in school, sports, and life in general. Coach Ben will remain in the hearts of many generations of players who he motivated and mentored over the years. Many of his former players credit him with their successes not only in sports but throughout life, having gone on to become successful career and family-oriented individuals. They recount that much of their success comes from the core values, respect of self and others, and motivation that Coach Ben instilled upon them from a young age. Coach Ben followed many of their careers well into adulthood and remained humble and proud of their achievements. He would glow with pride and admiration when he heard of the successes of his former players.
