Calling all local ruggers:

If you haven't heard, the Collegiate Rugby Championships are being held this weekend at the Maryland SoccerPlex. This is not only the largest rugby event in the country, it's the largest collegiate sporting event, period, with 144 different teams across 8 men's and women's brackets.

They are looking for youth players who might want to be ball runners. This is a great opportunity for youngin's to watch some amazing rugby as well as meet some future and current stars.

All volunteers get free access to all games!

We are having a string of amazing success stories this year already, with plenty more to come! .schumaker.rugby (IG) has been playing rugby since time immemorial. We had the pleasure of coaching Roth in tag, Sevens, and 15s at SYA and Western Suburbs Youth Rugby Club before moving on to the elite Fort Hunt Warriors High School Rugby program in 9th grade. He now commits to another top program Mother's Rugby at the University of Mary Washington for the next phase of his rugby and academic careers. We can't wait to see you in the pros! Celebrating more alumni successes. Jake Bryden has played with SYA/Western Suburbs for several years, both in 15s and 7s, and now plays for Fort Hunt Warriors High School Rugby for 15s, and Young Glory DC academy. He was just selected to represent Eagle Impact Rugby Academy in their 2026 tour of Ireland! Congrats on the huge accomplishment, Jake!

Big news at the National level!

Our Commissioner Brian Robinson has worked with the XV Foundation to create a new gameday bonus program for the USA Rugby Women's Eagles program to help provide financial stability for our national-level athletes. This is one more step in helping to create a program that will enable athletes to train and play as professional athletes. These great strides at the national level will have a knock on effect throughout the entire sport as we gear up for the 2029 and 2033 World Cups. The Women's Eagles program has a packed schedule this year, so let's all wish them well!

Another alumni of our sister club moving on up to the big leagues! If your child is interested in trying out rugby, start playing tag with us before graduating to our tackle program with Western Suburbs!

Please join us in congratulating Natalie Allen on her invite to the USA U20 Rugby Junior National Team Winter Camp. Natalie attends and plays rugby for Frostburg State University. During her time there, she has been selected NIRA All American, DII First Team, 2024.

Natalie started playing rugby in the Western Suburbs youth program and with Vienna HS Girls Rugby ().

We all wish Natalie the very best of luck at camp and continued success at school and in her rugby career!
